Yesterday’s offshore trip was absolutely awesome with a great catch of Amberjacks and red grouper finding there way into the box along with some decent mangrove snapper and a few hogfish. On the inshore side our Cobia fishing has been very consistent for the boats targeting them and there’s still some trout and redfish around as well. It felt so good to get offshore yesterday and beat up

Beautiful week out there with lots of quality fish being caught, both the morning and afternoon trips are working out well. It’s been a big week out there on the inshore side of things on the Gulfshore 26 with quality trout reds and snook finding there way into the boat daily, the weather should continue to get more consistent into april and we have a few openings left before the end of snook season. The early Spring fishery is upon us and that means turning our sights on mangrove snapper, sheephead, hogfish, and red grouper on the offshore front fishing 20-60 miles offshore. On the inshore side we will be targeting trout, Redfish, black drum and sheephead out of both our bay boats and mud boats. Meet Dave Johnson, the man with an incredible newly repaired 1973 Boston Whaler with an interesting history! Dave shared with us that this boat has been in his family since it was purchased new by Bill Fischer, owner of the Hontoon Marina in Deland, Florida at the time. We also spoke with Bill’s granddaughter, Janis Treeguarden, who grew up on this boat ever since Bill decided to bring it home. Janis spent many days in her childhood on the Whaler and even caught her first trout on it at 6-years-old in Homosassa, Florida! Throughout the years, this boat has been passed down for four generations and even led the St. Johns River boat parade as the lead boat until 2006. Janis now owns Magic Brush and works as a vendor for Boston Whaler’s decals. She said this boat has truly brought her family together over the years, and seeing it restored for the first time made her emotional.

When Dave brought this boat in to us for repairs, it was a long way from being the newly bought Whaler it was in ’73. Now, Dave will be able to keep this boat in his family for many years to come. Here we see Dave and the boat’s previous owner, his 90-year-old uncle Don Pieper, out on the water enjoying their restored family heirloom!

Here we have a beautiful Young 27 being delivered. Rob and his family are going to enjoy their new vessel set up for some serious fishing. In the aft, it is all set up to walk around to fight fish. With the built in tackle cabinet and cutting board in the stern facing seat to the removal of the livewell tanks, we are loving this layout.
