Chainbuster Forecast
10:31 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2026

Potential Hazards
Friday…Scattered mainly afternoon thunderstorms, Heat Index 95-100 late afternoon.
Saturday…Isolated afternoon thunderstorms, Heat Index 95-100 in the afternoon.

Changes to the Previous Forecast
Lowered the chance of thunderstorms Saturday.
Increased the high temperature on Saturday.

Discussion
The latest model runs are in good agreement with the forecast. Another system will move across the racecourse Thursday and Friday bringing scattered, mainly afternoon thunderstorms to the area. Some storms could be strong with brief heavy rain and gusty winds. High pressure will build over the southeast U.S. on Saturday. This will limit thunderstorm activity and also start building the heat. Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s with Heat Index values rising into the mid and upper 90s during the afternoon.

Chainbuster Forecast
12:53 PM Sunday, June 21, 2026

Potential Hazards
Friday…Scattered mainly afternoon thunderstorms.
Saturday…Scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

Discussion
A couple of systems will move across the racecourse this week. The first will move across the area Monday and Tuesday bringing numerous showers and thunderstorms, some with brief heavy rain. The next system will bring another chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday. This system will weaken, however the associated surface boundary will linger in the area. This will be the focus of afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday.

Potential Hazards
Today…Isolated afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-101

Changes to the Previous Forecast
Lowered the chance of rain this afternoon to 20%.

General Discussion
Other than lowering the chance of rain to 20% this afternoon, I’ve made no other changes to the forecast. Heat will be the main issue. By 11 AM Saturday, heat index values will be in the mid 90s, rising into the upper 90s to near 100 during the afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory beginning at noon today.

Friday…Isolated afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100
Saturday… Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100

Increased the temperatures Friday and Saturday.
Decreased the chances of rain Thursday and Friday.

The rest of this week and into Saturday will be hot and humid with isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will be less than 0.10”, however due to the slow movement of the thunderstorms, any strong storm could produce rainfall in excess of 1.00”.

12:20 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2026

Potential Hazards
Friday…Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100
Saturday… Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100

Changes to the Previous Forecast
No major changes.

General Discussion
Only a few minor tweaks to the temperatures this week, otherwise the forecast is basically unchanged. After today we get into more of a typical summer-time pattern with warm muggy nights followed by a hot and humid afternoon along with scattered hit-n-miss thunderstorms. General rainfall amounts will be less than 0.10”, however due to the slow movement of the thunderstorms, any strong thunderstorm could produce more than 1.00” of rain.

Friday…Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100
Saturday… Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100

Changes to the Previous Forecast
No major changes.

General Discussion
The forecast remains on track. I’m still looking at a summer-time pattern by the end of the week. This will bring scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms to Dauset Friday and Saturday. Heat Index values will be around 95 both Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Forecast Discussion
4:38 PM Sunday, June 7, 2026

Potential Hazards
Friday…Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100
Saturday… Scattered afternoon thunderstorms, Afternoon Heat Index 95-100

General Discussion
The week starts off a active with widespread showers and thunderstorms across Dauset. A large ridge of high pressure will build over the southeast U.S. for the last half of this week. This will bring a more summer-time pattern with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. This will also bring higher temperatures and higher humidities which will put the afternoon Heat Index in the 95 to 100 degree range Friday and Saturday.
