Please consider supporting our junior team and the shooting communities by entering your shots/dry fires into the https://traintheworld.org event. My Juniors and nearly 100 other shooting organizations will get a grant based on the number of shots/dry fires in the month of September. All you have to do in enter your name/email and number of rounds to support the shooting community and my Post 228 Junior Rifle Club.

🎯 This past weekend, 7 of our junior athletes traveled to compete in the Akron Zippy Open, taking on both 50ft smallbore and 10m air rifle events!
It was also the first time for one of our shooters to compete on electronic targets. The Zippy Open is a fantastic annual tradition hosted by the University of Akron Rifle Team at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range, drawing all levels of talent from across the country over two weekends.

One of the neatest parts of matches like this? You never know who you might end up shooting right next to! Tobias and Lucas found themselves sharing a firing line with Zachary Abzug - the 2026 U15 National Champion in Men's 10m Air Rifle at the USA Shooting Junior Olympic Championships!

So proud of all 7 of our juniors for stepping up to the line, gaining high-level experience, and shooting alongside some of the best marksmen in the country. Way to go, team! 👏 White Oak Rod & Gun Club

Post 228 thanks the 1791 Foundation (formerly the NRA Foundation) for the 2026 grant we received. The grant allowed us to compete at higher level competition with the Eley ammunition that we received and components to replace older and worn/lost accessories. The lead wipes allow us to provide additional protection for our juniors and coaches.

Post 228 and White Oak Rod & Gun Club were recipients of a Range Improvement Grant from https://www.facebook.com/MidwayUSAFoundation. Thank you to the Foundation! Phase 1 was completed with the installation of the indoor range exhaust ventilation. Next comes the repairs to the backstop, new divider wall to separate the range from the kitchen, ceiling baffles /window protection and finally the installation of new acoustic board on the walls.
