“The task here is not to stop being afraid. The real challenge is to stop despising yourself for being afraid.” - Eka Mora
Fear can certainly arise when trying something new. I am having a hefty dose of that as I enter in to a new venture with the longarm quilting.
So if you’ve been interested in yoga, and fear has kept you from beginning, that’s ok. Know that you’re not alone. “I’m not flexible.” “I’m going to look stupid.” “My body won’t do what those other people can do.” There is nothing odd about you. It takes so much courage to be honest with oneself that fear is actually there! My hope is that you can show up with whatever is (fear, grief, physical injuries etc.) and grow to not be as judgemental of yourself about it. To remain curious. I do my best to create a space where you can arrive with all of your stuff and yet don’t have to be alone with it.
Fear arises for me regularly. Especially when I’m experiencing/trying something/someone/somewhere new. Some people consider me brave because of all the things I have tried, places I’ve visited etc. Perhaps my life choices seems reckless to some. Maybe all of that is true. I consider myself very fortunate to have the privilege to keep exploring, learning to trust my intuition, and taking action when it feels right.
So if fear is arising, by all means, ask me questions. I will do my best to meet you with honesty and curiosity.
