Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has placed João Pedro among the Premier League’s elite strikers, insisting he deserves to be mentioned alongside Erling Haaland.

The Brazilian has started the season strongly with two goals and two assists in Chelsea’s opening three league games, earning the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

Alonso went even further by comparing the 24 year old to Karim Benzema:

“In many things, he reminds me of Benzema. He is good in the box, good out of the box, good coming to the left side, good with his head. He is very complete and intelligent.”

João Pedro is certainly delivering right now but Haaland level and Benzema comparisons already? 👀🔥

🚨🇮🇹 CESC FÀBREGAS HAS TO BE IN THE CONVERSATION FOR THE BEST YOUNG MANAGER IN WORLD FOOTBALL RIGHT NOW. 🤩👏

The rise has been remarkable. Fàbregas helped take Como from Serie B to Serie A, then guided them to a Champions League place in only their second season back in the Italian top flight. Last night, in Como’s first-ever Champions League match, they didn’t merely win, they dismantled RB Leipzig 4–1.

What impresses me most is the football. Como aren’t approaching these teams like underdogs hoping to survive. Fàbregas wants them to control possession, press high, play proactively and impose their identity, and they showed exactly that against Leipzig.

From Serie B to beating Champions League opposition 4–1 in just a few years. Fàbregas’ managerial trajectory is becoming seriously difficult to ignore. 🔥

At only 39, the scary part is that this might just be the beginning.

🚨🔴 LENY YORO TOOK HIS CHANCE - EXACTLY WHAT l NEEDED TO SEE 👏🔥

What a composed performance from Leny Yoro against Sabah. This was his first start of the season and his Champions League debut, and he helped United secure a much-needed 4–0 win and clean sheet.

Yoro looked calm, aggressive when stepping forward and comfortable defending higher up the pitch. Multiple ratings had him around 7.3/10, describing him as poised and noting that he essentially did nothing wrong defensively.

There was one moment early in the second half where he went aggressively through Mickels and could perhaps have been penalised, so I wouldn’t call the performance literally flawless. But importantly, there was no major defensive error from Yoro and United weren’t punished through his area.

I just love this guy 🔥🔥

🔥🔴 THE WAY KOBBIE MAINOO IS BALLING LATELY 🤩

I’ve genuinely been asking myself all night: what the actual f...k were Thomas Tuchel and Ruben Amorim seeing? 🤷‍♂️😭

Mainoo was given ZERO Premier League starts under Amorim, to the point where he admitted he considered leaving United. Then Tuchel took him to the World Cup and somehow gave him ZERO minutes throughout the tournament.

Now Carrick has put him back in midfield and we’re seeing the player again. Against Sabah, Mainoo completed 81 passes in just 64 minutes, and Carrick described him as a “massive influence” on United’s games. He has now been singled out as one of United’s best performers in consecutive matches.

Maybe Mainoo wasn’t the problem after all. 👀

That Tuchel Amorim combination is just us****as & has some serious explaining to do because WHAT WERE THEY WATCHING?! 😭🤷‍♂️🔥
