From the Desk of Coach Bouie:

As I reflect on the past four years as the Head Varsity Cheer Coach for the HPC Cheer Program, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for the journey we have shared. What began as a mission to provide a platform for young women has evolved into a cornerstone of our school and local community—a staple of service, spirit, resilience, accountability, servitude, and excellence.

Our primary goal was always to provide opportunities for girls who might not have otherwise had them. I am incredibly proud of the growth we have seen from 2022 until today:
• Service Excellence: In just four years, our student athletes have dedicated over 2,500 service-learning hours to our community by participating in annual events within our local community and supporting events at our feeder schools. They have proven that they are not just cheerleaders, but service leaders as well.
• Academic: 97% of student athletes made A, A/B, B honors for 4 years straight; 100% student-athletes maintained a GPA over 2.5; 15% student athletes were in the top 20% of their graduating class, and this year 10% student athletes are in the top 15% of their prospective graduating class. Yearly 100% senior graduation rate, and all are going to a 2- or 4-year college. 2% dual enrollment rate and a 4-year graduate rate.
• Collegiate Success: The strength of the program is evident as our previous graduates (NCCU, ECSU, Belmont Abbey) successfully secured coveted spots on collegiate squads, carrying the Bison spirit into the next chapter of their collegiate student-athletes’ lives. 100% graduation rate, and who are currently still in college completing their academic journey while making their own marks on campuses.
• Program Expansion: Successfully fundraising yearly to help get items needed for the program and increasing our inventory of uniforms and essential equipment to accommodate a growing and eager roster.

Coaching always comes with its share of unexpected issues and "behind-the-scenes" challenges. However, watching our girls remain active and continuing to give back despite these obstacles has been my greatest reward. This went far beyond just putting on a cheer uniform and wanting to cheer; we taught them how to lead when things get difficult.

A heartfelt thank you to Coach LaTasha Parker, who persuaded me to take his adventure with her in the spring of 2022. I already knew what came with coaching cheer, but I would not have thought the journey would be this eventful and adventurous. We have created memories that we will never forget!

Coach Loera, thank you for your Yes, when I asked you to join our coaching staff in 2024, and for leading with excellence, grit, and a zeal for cheer. Thank you for helping expand the program and helping push our ladies to try skills that they had never tried before.

Thank you from the depths of my heart for all our HPC coaches and staff who came to assist us when asked and needed. Special thank you to our #1 Honorable coach, who also happens to be an alumni cheer mom- Mrs. Nwabueze, you are the best without a doubt! Thanks to Coach Alex Stafford for always stepping in when needed.
Thank you to my alumni Class of 1992, Bison Pride, and Bison STRONG at its finest, who have always been a text and DM away when I needed sponsors for purchasing uniforms and items needed.

This past year was very tough due to the unexpected passing of my mother who was the program’s invisible “adopted cheer granny” (what she called herself) because she would make sure that anything that I mentioned that was needed was set to me to make sure all girls had what they needed (whether it was cans of Gatorade or cases of water, snacks, etc.)

Thank you to all teachers and staff who have helped assist the cheer program in any way, fashion, or form, and for helping the coaching staff make sure our athletes excelled as students first. By participating in our HPC Cheer Impact, coming to a game to cheer your favorite cheerleader on, participating in the teacher/cheerleader dance at prep rally, but most of all for being amazing teachers.

Thank you, Mr. Hettenbach, for allowing the program the opportunity to become a well-known part of and face in our local community. Thank you for supporting the coaching staff when tough decisions have to be made to uphold our high expectations and goals for our student-athletes.

To every HPC coach, it has been a pleasure supporting all of you in all of your sports. Thank you for allowing our cheer program to support sports where you normally do not see cheerleaders on the sideline or stands (tennis, soccer, softball, baseball, volleyball) for games and to make senior night a little more special. We enjoyed bringing the Bison spirit.

I know the new coach will transition into the head coach position with BISONPRIDE and will continue to build upon the Bison foundation of excellence, grace, and resilience. While going beyond the sidelines to show spirit and give back by continuing to . I will forever be a supporter and advocate for our cheer program and young ladies who wear the HPC uniform with pride and understand that it is BISON PRIDE that will always bring one back to THE HERD!
