Nettes with a Big 10-1 Win in yesterday’s Pink Out Game against Chestatee

Brylee Johnson 2028’s Big Day Propels Pickens Varsity Nettes Past LWE Fastpitch softball

Brylee Johnson 2028 collected three hits in three at bats, as Pickens Varsity Nettes defeated LWE Fastpitch softball 10-1 on Wednesday. Johnson 2028 doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Caleigh Hoffard 2027 struck out 10 batters on the day. The starter also surrendered one hit and one run over five innings while walking one.

Pickens Varsity Nettes jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sophia Painter 2029 singled, scoring one run, Carleigh Rau 2027 tripled, scoring two runs, and Kylee Bozeman 2028 singled, scoring one run.

Pickens Varsity Nettes extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Johnson 2028 and Caitlyn Hudgins 2029.

Lindy Schimek started in the circle for LWE Fastpitch softball. The starter allowed 14 hits and 10 runs over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two.

Pickens Varsity Nettes accumulated 14 hits in the game. Rau 2027 led Pickens Varsity Nettes with three runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Kendra Stewart 2028, Painter 2029, and Bozeman 2028 each collected multiple hits for Pickens Varsity Nettes. Johnson 2028 and Zyla Morgan 2029 each stole multiple bases for Pickens Varsity Nettes. Pickens Varsity Nettes stole five bases in the game. Pickens Varsity Nettes didn't commit a single error in the field. Bozeman 2028 had the most chances in the field with seven.

Ellie Gordon led LWE Fastpitch softball with one hit in two at bats.

Pickens Varsity Nettes will travel to White County for their next game on Thursday.

Congratulations Sydney!

Congrats to Sydney Wolfe being named Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week! “Sydney Wolfe (Messiah / So., RS / Jasper, Ga.) earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic, hitting .330 with 45 kills, nine blocks, and 16 digs to lead Messiah to a 3-1 week. She recorded double-digit kills in three straight matches.”

Today in the AJC high school football daily Pickens place-kicker Toccoa McGraw delivered a perfect performance in the Dragons’ hard-fought 45–35 victory over Fannin County!

🏈 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts
🏈 1-for-1 on field goals, connecting from 27 yards
🏈 A perfect 15-for-15 on extra points this season
🏈 An incredible 24-for-25 on extra points during her career

Toccoa is not only making an impact under the Friday night lights—she is also a standout player for the Pickens Lady Dragons soccer team!

Head Coach Craig Bennett is no stranger to coaching talented female kickers. His daughter, McCall, kicked for him at Cambridge before continuing her career at Valdosta State.
