After 3,050 days of consecutive running I decided to end my run streak that started on January 1, 2017.

It was a mixture of less than satisfactory runs since mid March, being sick, much needed attention for work, and most importantly a choice to improve physical and mental health. I also realized how much I stopped using this “No Days Off” mindset to identify with my own running, which made it that much easier to stop.

I didn’t run for a week, have only run 2 days since I stopped, and it feels good. More importantly it feels right. I’m taking this as a sign of big personal growth and will be carrying it over into other facets of my life. Because at even at age 40, it feels good to hit a reset.
