For generations of race fans, Grundy County Speedway has been more than a racetrack. It’s where friendships are made, rivalries are born, and memories are created.

Behind every great racetrack are the people who give it its character. And there’s no bigger character at Grundy County Speedway than “Big Daddy” John Starek.

On any given race night, you might find him at the main gate handing out goodies to fans - often while in a costume that gets everyone talking!

You’ll see him on the track interviewing the night’s winners and entertaining the crowd during intermission with his t-shirt cannon blaster and leading the crowd in a sing-a-long.

No matter where you find him, Big Daddy is always looking for ways to connect with the fans and to make their night at the track a memorable one. Because that’s what short track racing is all about - the people, the memories, and the traditions that keep us coming back to Grundy County Speedway …. IN MORRIS ILLINOIS!
