You think dogs and animals in general have a heightened sense of awareness. 4:00 am this morning we experienced a 5.8 earthquake just 95 miles NW of us. My wife tells me and the dogs that it shook us around a lot. We couldn't tell you, the dogs and I slept right through it.

Earthquake was felt at around 4 am Wednesday in the Northern Panhandle. The epicenter of the Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake was about 50 miles SW of Haines, or 95 miles NW of Juneau. We will keep you posted if we receive further information from USGS and Tsunami Warning Center.

Updated: From the National Tsunami Warning Center, a tsunami is not expected.
