Hi, we're adding your camp to our online calendar at
First day of 2018 Lynn Canal Running Camp! Have fun, everyone!
My son also loved this camp! He gained so much from it and really enjoyed being around people that love running as much as he does, running challenging trails, as well as learning valuable information that will help him be a better runner and have a better running career. Yay! Thank you very much to all the staff for putting on a great event.

The Lynn Canal Running Camp is a week-long running and adventure camp for high school runners. Lynn Canal Running Camp is organized under Lynn Canal Adventures, Inc as a local non-profit organization in Juneau, Alaska.

The Lynn Canal Running Camp is a weeklong opportunity for high school runners to meet and develop a life-long passion for running. The Eagle River Camp, located 30 miles north of Juneau, Alaska in the Tongass National Rainforest, serves as home for both campers and counselors. This is where runners sleep, make meals, play games and listen to guest speakers. Running activities will occur throughout the Juneau trail system. Events each day vary, but the focus will remain the same: a holistic approach to healthy running. Activities include breakout sessions on nutrition, healthy relationships, sports psychology, running technique, running after high school, and core strengthening. Runs will be wide-ranging, but all runners can expect to run between 25 and 50 miles during the camp depending on prior experience and ability. Physicals and a medical release are required for all runners.

Operating as usual

2020 Lynn Canal Running Camp

With COVID-19 comes change, creativity, and opportunity. Which is why, after some careful deliberation and planning, we have decided to open the few remaining spots of Lynn Canal Running Camp to rising 8th graders. While we are excited for the opportunity to welcome soon-to-be high school runners into the fold, we also want to remind all campers of the importance of preparing your body/mind for a week of 25-50 running miles. Easy runs, alternated with biking or cross training, ahead of camp help protect against injury while promoting physical and mental strength.

Information for Travelers to Alaska

As we excitedly move closer to our first session of camp, it is important that the extra precautions we are taking to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 are clear to all. In addition to moving to a day camp, we are asking campers to minimize their social interactions in advance of camp and follow these additional in-camp safety measures:
-Campers will be broken into small groups for the week.
-Social distance will be maintained and appropriate for the type of activity conducted.
-Masks will be required for use when not running.
-Daily temperature and COVID symptom checks will be recorded.
-For campers attending from outside of Alaska, we are asking you to follow the state's updated mandate for out of state travelers: https://covid19.alaska.gov/travelers/.
-If you are traveling from an Alaska community with a positive coronavirus test within 14 days of your arrival date, we are asking you to follow the same protocol.
-If you are traveling from a community within Alaska that has no positive tests within 14 days of your arrival to Juneau we are not asking you to quarantine nor provide a negative COVID-19 test result if you arrive via your own, self-contained transportation (e.g. by your own personal boat).

What COVID-19 has NOT changed for us is the continued embrace of LCRC's spirit. Expect each camp session to bring the same quirky, adventurous, and wild shenanigans you've all experienced (or heard of!).

We still have a few spots left in our first session and we'd love to have you with us!

Racing to Stay Alive

With the ongoing protests and vigils heavy on all of our minds, we found two articles on Runner's World Magazine website that are useful for runners as we reflect on the intersection of race and our sport. May they spur reflection, conversation, and action for us all...

Session two is full, but there are a handful of spots left for our first session: June 26-July 2. While camp will look different as we mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the fun and games will remain! To register, visit: https://lynncanalrunningcamp.regfox.com/2020-lynn-canal-running-camp

(This public service announcement brought to you by Lynn Canal Running Camp--keeping the affable in "laughable" since 2011.)

Cautiously, optimistically, and at a marathon pace, we are still on for Summer 2020!

We are working hard to create new structures and protocols to keep campers, staff, and our community safe in light of COVID-19. While we continue to refine our vision of what camp is going to look like, we’d like to let you in on what we know so far.

This summer we will be offering two, weeklong DAY camp sessions as scheduled for June 26 - July 2 and July 5 - 11. Registration remains open and all those who have already registered will keep their spots. If you are traveling from out of town to attend camp, you are welcome to attend however, at this point and time, we are asking all out of town guests to quarantine for 14 days and we are unable to provide housing and transportation in Juneau. A full refund will be provided to campers unable to participate.

For those whose summer plans have shifted and would like to attend camp, registration is still open! Registration is offered on a sliding scale to ensure camp is accessible to all. To register, visit: https://lynncanalrunningcamp.regfox.com/2020-lynn-canal-running-camp

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. We will be in touch with updates as we learn more and continue to adapt. If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to reach out.

In the meantime, stay running, stay connected, and most importantly: wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes, maintain physical distance, wear a face covering when you can't, stay home if your sick, and support others to do the same!

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) – Prevention & Treatment

With news and updates regarding coronavirus and COVID-19 coming fast and from many directions, the safety and well-being of everyone involved with LCRC is of utmost importance as we look forward to this summer. We, like most of you, are watching the news daily and listening to public health experts at the state and national level.

With our first session of camp more than three months away, we are still planning for two weeks of adventuring on Juneau's world-class trail system. That being said, as our collective response to this public health crisis evolves, we will continue to assess options for our summer programming and keep everyone updated.

In the meantime, continue to utilize best public health practices (https://tinyurl.com/uep9p6h), find the joy in each day, keep your social networks strong (via phone, snapchat, facetime...), and get outside in small, adequately spaced groups!

cdc.gov The best way to prevent COVID-19 infection is to avoid exposure to this virus and use healthy habits.
