Cockadoodle Blue and Aaron Taylor had a respectable showing in today’s contest with 36 crows but failed to qualify in the top three for the finals on Monday. The rules allow for him to be entered in a the second heat by a different person, so we go!

The 2nd annual Chick Norris Memorial Rooster Crowing Contest was held last weekend at the Platte County Fair... it yedes seven contenders. But alas, last year’s defending champion, Cockadoodle Blue, won the 2019 trophy with Daniel Miller and family as his handler. Mike and Handsome Henry came in second place.

It is with a heavy heart that I report Chick Norris was killed by a red-tailed hawk this morning. He bravely fought against the hawk that was many times his size protecting his hens. We were too late to rescue him. Chick will be laid to rest in his favorite, sunny crowing spot.

Well, we promised Chick Norris a new female besides Little Dove Bird... and here she is! Sister Wife Norris is a Bantam Mille Fluer... very pretty! She will be in quarantine for the next 10 days to make sure she doesn't make the rest of our flock sick with anything. After that, she will become part of the newly formed Bantam Collection.

It's been a long week with the eclipse and all. My humans found me in the coop going to bed early tonight but that didn't stop me from saying goodnight with a crow.
