Texas Canoe and Kayak Racing Association The purpose of this organization is to promote and grow the sport of Canoe and Kayak racing in Texas with a focus on river stewardship.

The Texas Canoe and Kayak Racing Association is a statewide club for persons interested in paddle sport racing. The primary focus of the club is to promote paddle sport racing and river stewardship. We will host (2) River Cleanups and (5) races in 2021. We have also added an instructional race clinic to the calendar this year as well. In 1971 a group of canoe paddlers with an interest in canoe and kayak racing joined together and formed the TCRA, which later evolved into the TCKRA. During the past years the organization has grown to be one of the largest canoe and kayak clubs in the state. The club is now recognized as the voice for canoe racing in Texas and its members have gained national recognition. In addition to the TCKRA race events, the TCKRA will support up to 20 canoe races around Texas. Rather a beginner to the sport, fierce competitor wanting to take 1st, or just looking to help us keep our rivers clean, then we would love to have you join our club!

We’ve added a Grand Masters 60+ age category this year. State champion trophies awarded to first place in each category.

We are closely watching the red tide happening along parts of Galveston Island—we will move race locations if needed. We will send an email and update here Thursday evening with final course information.

There are still tshirts in all sizes available, but will go by order of registration (so please register soon so you don’t miss out if you want one).

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Mark "Hoot" Foss this morning, surrounded by his loving wife Molly and beautiful family following a brave and courageous fight with cancer

Mark was deeply loved and respected by so many in our Texas community for his smile, grace and racing grit. His wit was also something to behold! He literally would give the shirt off his back if anyone was in need!

A beautiful soul, who had adopted Texas as a second home and brought his genuine love of canoe racing with him from Iowa! He showed that age is just a frame of mind. In his later years, we were so blessed to have him with us in Texas during the winters, while he continued racing throughout the Midwest and ran ACA certified, new paddler training courses!

Mark was an ambassador for we Texans and he was so proud to be a part of our community. Please keep Molly and family in your thoughts and prayers. We will miss you dear man!
