🏈 Hustle Russell Award Winner: Elias Has 🏈
Congratulations to this week's Hustle Russell Award Winner, Elias Has!
We would also like to recognize this week's outstanding nominees:
⭐ Frank Worboys
⭐ Ricky Keil
⭐ Brock Chisam
Elias is new to the Warriors this season, but through hard work, patience, and determination, he has steadily made a name for himself in practice. As his confidence has grown and he has built strong relationships with his teammates, his impact on the field has continued to increase.
Looking for additional opportunities to develop, Elias opted to play junior varsity to gain valuable reps, and he certainly made the most of his opportunity this past Monday in the Warriors' thrilling 22-20 JV victory over Kearney. Coaches saw him run as well as he has all season, displaying toughness, vision, and determination while scoring all three Warrior touchdowns.
A special shoutout also goes to the big boys up front on the JV offensive line who helped pave the way for Elias' huge night on Monday and continue to work tirelessly every day on the scout team to help prepare the Warriors for Friday nights:
💪 Colin Sarver💪 Scott Sarver💪 Drew Richards💪 Ricky Keil💪 Bennett Neis💪 Owen Tomlinson💪 Logan Latier💪 Jack Karlstrand
These young men may not always get the recognition they deserve, but their effort, toughness, and commitment to making their teammates better are a huge part of the Warriors' success. Monday night's performance was a great example of the hard work they put in every week paying off on the field.
What makes Elias even more deserving of this recognition is the attitude he brings every day. He shared with his coaches that he is working to earn a scholarship and is committed to making the most of every opportunity available to him. That drive shows up in his effort, preparation, and physical style of play. His hard work has earned him a spot in the varsity rotation and on kickoff return this week.
The Hustle Russell Award recognizes players who embody hard work, perseverance, selflessness, and a team-first mindset. Elias has demonstrated all of those qualities and is a great example of what it means to live out the Warrior Way.
Congratulations, Elias, on being named this week's Hustle Russell Award recipient!
Best of luck to Elias as he continues to pursue his goals on and off the field, and best of luck to the Warriors as they travel to St. Louis this Saturday to take on De Smet Jesuit. Keep working, keep believing, and keep making the most of every opportunity.

🏈 Hustle Russell Award Winner: Chase Brookings
Congratulations to this week's Hustle Russell Award Winner, Chase Brookings!
We would also like to recognize this week's outstanding nominees: Carson Barnes, Thomas Dickerson, Easton Massey, and Leo Guastello.
Chase is the definition of what the Hustle Russell Award represents. While he is a tremendous football player who makes an impact on offense, defense, and special teams, it is the work he puts in every single day that truly sets him apart.
Like Brandon Russell, Chase simply does everything that is asked of him and then some. Last week, Chase won every sprint and every gasser, something he has consistently done throughout the season. His effort, attitude, and commitment are never questioned. Coaches know exactly what they are going to get from Chase every day: maximum effort and a relentless drive to improve.
Those habits show up on Friday nights. Whether it's turning a short pass into a big gain, breaking free for a 50-plus yard touchdown run after the catch, or taking a punt return to the house, Chase's success is a direct result of the work he puts in when no one is watching.
More importantly, Chase has become a quiet leader for the Warriors. He attacks every drill, every practice, and every game with a standard of excellence that raises those around him.
Congratulations, Chase, on being this week's Hustle Russell Award recipient. Best of luck to Chase and the Warriors as they welcome the undefeated Kearney Bulldogs to St. Pius X this Friday night.

Warriors Make a Statement, Bulldogs Up Next
On a memorable Friday night in Lenexa, KS, the St. Pius X Warriors football team walked into hostile territory and delivered a statement victory over the undefeated and Kansas Class 5A No. 2-ranked St. James Academy Thunder, winning 37-14. The Thunder entered the contest at 3-0, while the Warriors arrived unbeaten at 4-0. By night's end, St. Pius X left no doubt they belonged among the region's elite teams.

Facing a program led by former SPX coaches Tom Radke and Rick Byers, the Warriors responded after an early setback, a fumble for a TD that gave St. James an early 7-0 lead. Thereafter, the Warriors took control with a dominant performance in all three phases of the game. The offense generated 360 total yards, the defense forced four turnovers and held St. James to just 159 total yards, and special teams capped the night with a punt return touchdown.

The Warriors were powered by a relentless rushing attack led by Kaden Locke's 135 yards and two touchdowns, while Jake Nichols threw for 188 yards and two scores. Chase Brookings added a huge night through the air with 106 receiving yards, including a game-changing 52-yard touchdown reception.

Most impressive was the Warriors' defensive effort. St. Pius X shut down the Thunder ground game, limiting St. James to just 20 rushing yards and forcing three interceptions in one of the most complete defensive performances of the season. Interceptions by Cam Phillips, Charlie Prenger, and Daveon Lopez, with a sparkling tip interception from the defensive front.

The victory improves the Warriors to 5-0 and sets up one of the biggest regular season games in recent program history.

Next Up: Kearney Comes to Town
Now all eyes turn to Friday, October 2nd, when the undefeated Kearney Bulldogs, the top-ranked team in Missouri Class 4A, travel to face the Warriors at St. Pius X High School.
