Still underwater. Got more rain last night which makes 19 out of the last 20 days with some type of rain. Once we get to a dry spell we will be able to get back to racing but until then we are still closed. Sorry folks, can’t beat Mother Nature

Ok!!! If you were out at Katy BMX at all last weekend you should be in these galleries. I did my best to get everyone that hit the track. If I missed you, I am so sorry, you just went passed me too fast!

ALL IMAGES are $10 per image. All proceeds will go to Rick and Mistie Flores to help with anything they need.

I am adding a few of my favorites to this post. But make sure to go to the galleries to get your high resolution image.

If you love/like your pic, please show some love and tag Amy Salvato Photography when you post to social media. Also Katy BMX Park so everyone knows how much fun we had!

You should be able to copy the links below to share with others.

Always a blast at the track!

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say CANCER SUCKS!!!
I know it has hit everyone in some way. It is extremely obvious that the Flores Family has a HUGE support system. This BMX community is like none other I have ever known, and I am very proud to be a part of it.

I still have a long way to go with all of the images from the weekend, but here are some from the benefit for Rick.

I will have all of the images in a gallery (link will be provided in a couple days). All images will be $10 (per image) if you would like to have it without the watermark. ALL proceeds will go to Rick and Mistie. I will also have an option within the gallery to make an extra donation to them if you choose to do so.

God Bless the Flores Family and our wonderful BMX community.

PHOTOS FROM THIS WEEKEND

I am looking for photos from this weekend.
Both on track and off-track photos. Videos will work as well.
They do not have to be race-related. The more candid the better.

I would like to create a memory book for Rick with photos from Saturday to show everyone's support for him.
Also, email me with any message you would like to "virtually sign" in the book. I will post them all in there. (Please pass this along to anyone not on social media)

And I would like to see some epic photos of the rain on Sunday.

You can email them to: [email protected]
Or email and I will give you a phone number to text them to.

If you would not like them used on social media, please let me know and I will keep them off.

I told you we were going to race, rain or no rain. As much as I hated to have weather a factor, it was also great to see 1000+ people making the best of a bad situation.

And even with rain, there was some great racing. I saw some bar to bar banging, really aggressive high lows, and some last straight drag races which surprised me given the amount of rain falling. Not to mention Jonathan "el Mozkito" Suarez and Peter Elizondo going into the last turn in the ProAm at what looked like 60mph and sticking the turn. We called the ProAm racers to the hill at assigned times and they went at it, rain or not.

By my count, it was 368 riders and 78 motos. People traveled knowing full well it could be a weather effected event. To everyone who showed up and braved the weather, you are true racers. To all of our volunteers who spent 10 days working on the track, we thank you. We tore it up, but it held a lot of racing yesterday. People got muddier off the track than on, at least. Usually we get rain, sweep it off, and go back to racing. Not yesterday. Not to mention all of our volunteers that helped run the race. From scoring to staging to turn monitors to handing out goodies in concessions.

Once it stops raining, we'll get the track put back together and we'll go on with the program. In the meantime, Ms Sheryl is working on the final scoring and placements. USA BMX's systems aren't really built around a 1 and done race. We are waiting to hear back from USA BMX on getting everything updated and corrected. So if you look online, it is not final yet. the systems force you to enter something with the idea that it is a normal 2 moto + main race. We'll let you know when the scoring is final.

All right, everyone! it's that time! Let's get ready to race! Rain? We don't care about no stinking rain.

Couple of things about the weekend. We've got good weather tonight and tomorrow. Let's have some fun and make some money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and for the Rick Flores family. Remember $5 parking for Saturday. Please bring Cash.

Now Sunday, we're going to open registration up a little early. And open practice at 8:30. Maybe a little earlier if you've got your wrist band already. We will start age group practice at 8:30.

Be ready to race ASAP, though. Since we're starting early we reserve the right to close out registration a little early if the weather looks like it's moving in sooner. So get registered and get ready to race. If you have an issue with getting registered by say 10:30, please call me at 346.218.9877. We'll make sure you are on the moto sheets in case we need to bump things up.

I can't stress this enough. WE ARE RACING SUNDAY for anything short of a hurricane, tornado, or lightning storm.

We WILL be fully scoring the first round in case that has to become the final tally. So tell your racer that they better pedal it to the parking lot and not sit up just because they're not in the transfer slot in the first moto. Might as well think of the first round as total points whether you have 3 people or 8.

AGAIN.... BRING CASH FOR PARKING SAT AND SUNDAY. $5 per day. All parking goes to the ProAm purse, which is already sitting at over $500. 300 cars over 2 days means we'll have a ProAm purse of at least $2000. We will pay to 8th place or N-1 if there is 8 or fewer.

Yes, there is a chance of rain late afternoon Sunday. The forecast we trust shows isolated showers. That means we race. The last 2 years it was the same way. It rained, we dried the track, and we raced. If something in the forecast changes drastically, we'll make a call by Thursday at 5pm. But for what we see now, it's racing as usual.

We had such a great weekend of racing. And a great week of working on the track. There’s a lot more happening this week, with work happening tomorrow to start addressing some problem areas when it rains.

Big announcement though. For Sunday’s state race, we will have a Pro Am. Last year we had 15 racers and paid out over $1500 with Tangent Rift Rockstar’s Riley House taking over half of that. Here’s how we’re doing it this year:

15+ Expert
$25 buy in
Parking will be charged Saturday and Sunday $5 per car per day
All parking proceeds will go to purse
If more than 8 racers entered will pay to 8th place
If less than 8 we will pay to -1
Riders will draw for lane choice

I’ll start it off by throwing $200 to the purse.

Pro Am presigns and purse donation options are up at https://racekatybmx.square.site/s/shop
