To break my posting silence I thought I’d share a bit of what has been keeping me. My biological mom passed away in spring this year and my dad passed away in June. Family health issues all over really. Not to mention David Lynch also passed away this year and that killed me a bit. They were all sources of comfort and inspiration and will be missed. Thankfully, Clive Barker is still here and he is still wonderful and these books have been a tremendous source of comfort and inspiration and excitement this year especially. If you get a chance to dig into his written work then I’d heavily recommend digging deep. He really is a very romantic sort of writer no matter whether he is doing horror or fantasy. Anyway that’s my little update. I’m still doing guitar stuff but it’s been a rough year for being productive. Hoping to be doing more soon.

Still surprises me to see this stuff pass quality control. The waist is a tough spot to get right with binding, but when we had gaps and wood binding it was quite a simple fix to press it in on a bending iron. Wish they had done that on this $4000 acoustic. The customers we have interested in high end instruments have eyes like a hawk.

Filling in the smaller cracks in the fretboard after pulling the frets. I made a little craco filling slurry from a piece of zericote from the original fretboards material. Once that has dried ill relevel the fingerboard and start prepping the new Gold frets.

Doing some finish repair. A first for me at this location. We dont have a spray room, so for safety reasons my work is limited to touch up. The hole in the side and the split down the back have been glued and I am now touching up and blending the finish on this Martin Road Series. Once im done here and wetsanded all my low spots out ill finalize and match the rest of the finish.

Moisturize your fingerboards folks. It will thank you, and repay you by being smoother, more beautiful, and crack free.

I considered whether or not I should post to ACP Guitars, but it is a service i offer. So, heads up to folks who might have an old save battery thats dying. I do battery replacements and soldering on old video games that had battery backed saves or real time clocks. Its not rocket science, but if you are less confident than to work on your own games know im here and open to mail in repairs. Just send me a message.

I haven't posted anything this year like a crazy person. Health had had me taking a back seat to a lot of it, but I'm back in my basement straightening up a bit and gearing up to be back at it with builds and repairs at home as well as in Grand Rapids. Thanks for the folks who knew what was up with me and reached out. I still have big plans for my guitars.

It is not an everyday occurrence that I receive handwritten thank you letters in the shop mail, but I'd welcome that to be the case.

So, no. The answer is no. Tying and taping ends together is not good enough. Try again. 😆 $25 everytime YOU make this mistake, and I fix it for you.
