Cadets from Alpha Flight at Jewel Sumner High School proudly and honorably presented the colors at the Jewel Sumner Cowboy football game last night!

The color guard included:

State Flag: Cadet Master Sergeant Alexis Duran

Junior Rifle: Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Hayden Taylor

Foxtrot Flight Represents at Ponchatoula Jr. High!

Thursday, cadets from Foxtrot Flight (Ponchatoula Jr/High School) had the honor of presenting the colors during the PJHS football game.

The cadets looked sharp as they represented their school and squadron with pride, professionalism, and respect. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and commitment to honoring our nation and their community.

Congratulations to Loranger High School graduate, Private First Class (PFC) Troy Grishom, on successfully completing basic training with the United States Marine Corps!

PFC Troy Grishom (pictured left) comes from a proud family with a long tradition of military service. His brother, Isaiah Grishom (pictured right), currently serves in the United States Navy. Their parents, Brandon and Yolanda Taylor, both served in the United States Army, with Mr. Taylor continuing his service in the Louisiana Air National Guard.

Thank you, PFC Grishom, and thank you to your entire family for your dedication and commitment to serving our great nation. We are proud of your accomplishments and grateful for your willingness to serve and defend the freedoms we hold dear.

Congratulations to Sumner High School graduate Airman 1st Class (A1C) Michael Mixon!

Please join us in congratulating A1C Michael Mixon on successfully graduating from U.S. Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland in San Antonio, Texas!

A1C Mixon distinguished himself throughout training by serving as Flight Chief, Top Dorm Chief, and earning the title of Honor Graduate—an incredible accomplishment awarded to only about 70 airmen out of more than 700 trainees!

A1C Mixon is part of a long line of Tangipahoa Cadets who have answered the call to serve our great nation in the United States Armed Forces. His dedication, leadership, and commitment are an inspiration to those who follow in his footsteps.

A1C Mixon will soon head to Keesler Air Force Base for technical training, where he will receive expert instruction in his career field.

This week, Hotel Flight cadets at Roseland Montessori explored the principles of flight and aerodynamics by designing and creating their own paper airplanes. They then conducted experiments to see how different modifications affected their planes’ performance and whether they could make them fly farther!

In addition, our Hotel cadets learned how to properly Air Force roll their sleeves on their ABU/OCP blouses—another important skill in maintaining a sharp and professional appearance.

Check out the inaugural publication of “The Cadet Gazette,” a monthly newsletter produced by our cadets!

C/Maj Gracelee serves as our Squadron Cadet PAO (Public Affairs Officer) and Chief Cadet Editor of The Cadet Gazette. She is supported by a dedicated team of cadet PAOs from each flight who capture photos and stories of our cadets in action from across the parish and assist with producing each monthly edition.

Through The Cadet Gazette, our cadets are developing valuable skills in photography, journalism, communication, leadership, and public affairs while showcasing the many accomplishments and activities of our squadron.
