Captivity steals everything that’s important to dolphins, leaving them stressed and frustrated. Dolphins are unable to avoid interactions with the public and other dolphins at swim with dolphin facilities, and will act out aggressively as a result.
A recent USDA inspection report at Dolphin Plus in Key Largo outlines two dolphins, named Bob and Alfonz, who bit a tourist as they were being dragged around by the dolphins’ dorsal fins. While another dolphin, Dinghy, jumped head-on at a tourist, where the person needed to be taken to the hospital.
