FINAL: A six-goal night in Hazleton! 💙⚔️

Emma Ey led the Blue Knights’ attack with a hat trick, while Ella Plummer, Charlotte Fissler and Apollonia Bruno each found the back of the cage. Anna Rolland assisted Plummer’s goal, and Erin Cavanaugh set up two goals tonight.

A complete team effort on a night that meant so much beyond the game. We competed with purpose and played for something bigger than ourselves.

Emma Ey and Harper LaSota earn tonight’s honors!

On a night filled with emotion, Emma delivered a hat trick in the stadium where her Pappa’s legacy lives on. There is no doubt she made him incredibly proud tonight.

Harper had a true breakout performance, stepping up with confidence and showing everyone what she is capable of bringing to this team.

Two special performances on an unforgettable night. ⚔️

For freshman Faylinn Fernandes, the fight against cancer is deeply personal. 💙

Faylinn dedicated her season to her grandfather, Rick, whose battle with cancer began when he was just 18 years old.

Rick was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and endured 65 radiation treatments before finally going into remission at 23. Thirty-one years later, he was asked to fight again, this time against Stage 4 head and neck carcinoma. After 19 chemotherapy treatments and being given just six months to live, Rick fought for a year and a half. That extra time gave Fay something priceless: more memories with her grandpa. He taught her how to swing a baseball bat, how to stay strong when the odds are against you and, most importantly, how to face even the hardest days with kindness and positivity.

Although Rick has since passed away, his fight and legacy continue through Rick’s Fun Run, a nonprofit created in his name to help others facing battles of their own.

Faylinn’s dedication also carries another person very close to her heart: her Pop Pop, who is currently battling ALS. She knows what it means to remember someone who fought with everything he had while continuing to stand beside someone she loves through a fight of his own.

For Fay, this season carries both: the memories she was given with Grandpa Rick, the strength and kindness he showed her, and the love and support she continues to give Pop Pop through his battle with ALS. Two grandfathers who have shown her strength in very different ways, and she carries them both with her. 💙

Behind every athlete are people whose strength shapes them in ways that extend far beyond the field.

For senior Anna Rolland, one of those people is her mom. 💗

Anna dedicated her senior season to the woman who has been there throughout her journey and who faced a battle of her own: breast cancer.Her mom fought it. And she beat it.

There is something incredibly meaningful about reaching your senior season with the person you love still standing beside you, especially when your family knows there was a time when nothing about the future could be taken for granted.

Tonight gives Anna the opportunity to honor her mom’s fight while also celebrating where she is today: here, beside her daughter, as a breast cancer survivor.

Behind Anna’s dedication is a daughter who knows exactly who she is playing for.

This one is for Mom. 💗

Seventy-five rounds of radiation. Two battles with breast cancer. And today, a survivor. 💗

That is the woman sophomore Chloe Fiske gets to call JoJo. Chloe dedicated her season to her JoJo, whose fight began with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2005. She endured chemotherapy along with 35 rounds of radiation. Eleven years later, in 2016, the cancer returned. JoJo faced it again, undergoing another 40 rounds of radiation before eventually becoming cancer free.

Her story is one of perseverance that Chloe and her family have witnessed firsthand. It is also a reminder of exactly who stands behind the ribbons and dedications we see throughout the season.

Tonight, we have the privilege of celebrating JoJo not only for everything she endured, but for where she is today. Cancer free. Chloe’s season belongs to JoJo. 💗

There’s a little extra meaning behind where sophomore Emma Ey gets to play tonight. 💙

Emma has dedicated her season to her grandfather, Richard “Richie” Matz, and tonight brings that dedication incredibly close to home. Beside the field at Harman-Geist Stadium stands the Richie Matz Field House, named in honor of Emma’s grandfather and the legacy he left on Hazleton athletics.

Richie’s impact on this community spanned decades. He began coaching Hazleton High football in 1976, became head coach in 1985 and later became the first head football coach at Hazleton Area when the schools combined in 1992. To say he left his mark here would be an understatement.

And tonight, right beside the field house that carries his name, one of his pride and joys gets to compete. Emma will walk onto the field wearing Wyoming Seminary across her chest with her grandfather’s name standing just steps away.

There’s something incredibly special about that. We are honored to have Emma as part of our program, and equally honored to walk into a place that holds so much history and means so much to Emma and the Matz family. 💙

GAME DAY 💙💚

The Blue Knights are back on the road tonight as we travel to Hazleton Area for a 6:30 PM matchup.

Tonight’s game carries a little more meaning. Wyoming Seminary and Hazleton Area are proud to dedicate tonight’s game to the Attacking Cancer Foundation. Both programs have players, coaches and families who have been directly impacted by cancer, making this a cause that hits incredibly close to home on both sidelines.

You’ll see blue and green surrounding the field tonight as two teams come together to show their support. For four quarters, we compete. For this fight, we stand together. 💙💚
