Designed with dedicated teachers and serious students in mind, Kimberly has tailored two Monthly Mentorship Programs that offer a supportive, intimate environment to deepen your personal practice.

✨ Student program is three Sundays, noon-6pm. Each session, you’ll deepen your own practice with a extended led yoga class. You’ll also spend the afternoon studying different aspects of yoga disciplines, theories & philosophy. Each week concludes with a mediation, breathing, or restorative session.

✨ Teacher’s program is three Saturdays, noon-6pm. Each session will include an interactive Mysore-style practice with hands-on guidance and support. You’ll spend the afternoons learning assisting technique, alignment, communication, and embodied teaching skills. Each week concludes with a mediation, breathing, or restorative session.

All year we’ve been highlighting our original “OG” teachers. This month we’re thrilled to share one of Yoga East’s “OG” students, Susan Shapiro.

Susan’s story is unique to her, but so relatable to many long-term practitioners. There’s a thread where your practice gets tied to major life events. Through the birth of children, major moves, or loss of loved ones – we often lean into the yoga during transitions. We remember how the practice was there for us during these times. How it helped. How it was hard. How it pushed you. Or how you needed to put it down for a while - but it was always there to come back to.

In Susan’s words:

A year-ish after my twin daughters, Emma and Ruthie were born (1998), my sister suggested I go with her to a kickboxing class in a building near Mill Pond. I really disliked kickboxing, but near the end of class, the teacher taught a few yoga postures – and they felt like home to me. The teacher recommended I check out the yoga class being taught at a gym downtown.

That gym class, after many moves, would grow into Yoga East!

Still feeling the vibes from Sunday’s anniversary class. Thanks to the 70 yogi’s who participated, taught segments, donated, and shared in this experience. And all the delicious food - sooooo good!

In Mysore this morning, one yogi thought she had salt stains on her mat from crying tears of joy. 🥹

Community is more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.

And thants to Kittery Community Center for being such an incredible host.

In this month’s “Then & Now” we feature OG Yoga East teacher, Chip. Today he goes by Theo and sent us some beautiful photos of his current life, living on the beach in Mexico.

When Chip found Yoga East in 2007, he had already been practicing for 7 years. But with Yoga East, he dove much deeper, taking multiple teacher trainings with Kimberly, Eddie & Nikki, and more.

In his words:
“I enjoyed a yearlong adjustment apprenticeship for Mysore at Yoga East. Would arrive at 4.a.m. for my practice, then apprentice with Kimberly for Mysore students – lol, the hungry days!”

Swipe through to the last photos and see how much more laid back life is now that he’s getting to shala at 4am!
