Huge thanks to Axle Logistics for renewing their partnership with the Tennessee Rugby Park for 2023/2024. Youth and Collegiate Rugby in East Tennessee wouldn't be possible without the support and sponsorship of our dedicated partners!
SMAC had a very productive meeting with the County Mayor’s office this morning. They will be pulling the resolution from the agenda on Monday night and that will give us time to get together to see how we can best move forward to continue to meet the needs of the rugby community, enhance the experience at the park, and provide services for some sports that have the same desperate need for field space that we had in 2007. SMAC will get to work next week with the county to create a plan for the park that meets the objectives of both Knox County and the Smoky Mountain Athletic Club. There is common ground here in that we all want to create the best experience possible for youth sports in Knox County while protecting the hard work of those that have come before us.
There’s no need to attend the commission meeting on Monday night on behalf of the rugby community. But, the response from the rugby community this week has been very heartwarming and makes us all proud to be involved in the game they play in Heaven. We have heard from folks this week that I haven’t talked to in years.
Three Cheers.
