Good morning everybody. Fantastic job at Melton Hill Yesterday!
We had a great meet with 4 season’s best times and even better, 8 season’s best places. This means we’re not only getting faster but we’re improving against the competition and this is what I like to see!
Gresham Boys finished 20th out of 28 teams. Boys top 5:
Barrett Lemons - 57th out of 274 runners in a season’s best time of 13:35. Breakthrough performance for Barrett
Andrew Bivens - Season best place
Houston Shoudy
Zade Meeks
Joshua Mann - Season best place and time
Gresham Girls finished an equal season’s best 10th out of 14 teams. Girls top 5:
Maia Craft - Season’s best 24th out of 205 runners in a season’s best time of 14:28
Summer Craft - Season’s best place
Natalie Rickers - Season’s best place
Ava Ellenburg - Season’s best place and time
Lilly Graham - Season’s best place
Below is our progress matrix. Green moving to the right!
I’ll send more about our schedule for next week in a separate e-mail.
Practice tomorrow at 5:30 PM at Beverly Park. See you there!

OK, finally got the Cove Lake results.
We had an outstanding meet and had 5 boys and 5 girls finish so we were able to score as a team on both sides. Our girls finished 10th out of 15 teams competing and the boys finished 17th out of 23 teams competing.
You can see our results below as Maia Craft led the way on the girls side with a 27th place finish out of 224 girls running. Top 5 were Maia, Summer, Natalie, Lilly and Ava.
Andrew Bivens led the boys finishing 71st out of 280 boys running. Top 5 were Andrew, Barrett, Houston, Zade and Landon.
As we go through the season we’ll be keeping up with your best places and best times and these are highlighted in green below. So, pretty easy to see we had an incredible meet and are making progress!
Another thing we watch is the time spread between our top 5 runners. The tighter we can make that spread the better we’re going to be as a team.
We’re just getting started here but proud of you all.
I have this in spreadsheet form. If you’d like me to send a copy over let me know.
See you tomorrow!

Good morning everybody. Our team is really coming together with some new teammates joining. We’re going to have a great year!
We are rapidly approaching our first meet of the season which will be Saturday September 4 at Victor Ashe Park. Girls run at noon and boys run at 12:30. I know this is labor day weekend and there are always some conflicts and this is no problem if you have prior commitments. Just let me know one way or the other whether you will compete on Saturday. Meet information is here: https://knoxvilleyouthathletics.org/victor-ashe-park-fall-classic/
If you haven’t already turned in your medical form and fees ($35 in cash or check to KYA), I need those by the end of next week.
There is a group run at Victor Ashe Park this Sunday August 29 to preview the course. This is staffed by Knoxville Youth Athletics and the course will be open from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. This is totally optional but if you’re unfamiliar with the middle school course at Victor Ashe it’s a good chance to preview it.
We will be out at Beverly Park this afternoon at 5:30 PM. I will not be there today. John Fox will be running the practice.
Next week we will practice Monday and Tuesday at Sterchi Hills Park and Thursday at Beverly Park as usual at 5:30.
Any questions, please let me know.

Good evening everybody. I hope you’ve had a good weekend.
Practice Schedule this week is as follows:
Monday 5:30 PM Sterchi Hills Park
Tuesday 5:30 PM Sterchi Hills Park
Wednesday 6:00 PM Gresham at the Outdoor classroom - Orientation Meeting for parents and athletes
Thursday 5:30 PM Beverly Park
It looks like weather could come into play this week. Our policy with regard to weathers that we make the call on site. Coaches will be there and if conditions are unsafe due to weather we will call the practice. Sometimes storms can be very spotty so we hesitate to call practice based on a forecast or weather going on one place or the other. Use your own judgement though and if you don’t feel comfortable bringing them, that’s fine.
See you this week!

Hi everybody. I hope you’ve been enjoying a great summer.
We are looking forward to a great and hopefully more normal cross country season this year and I hope you’re going to be a part of it.
We are going to start pre-season practice this Monday 8/2 and will practice Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays at 5:30 PM at Sterchi Hills Park as we’ve done in recent years. Our first regular season meet is Saturday 9/4.
I realize some of you are still on vacations, etc. and this is totally optional, but come if you can as it’s never too early to start getting in shape.
Please reach out to me and let me know whether you're planning to compete this year.
Also, please reach out to your friends and incoming 6th graders who may be interested in competing this year and feel free to share my contact information.
Coach Fox and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Attached is an updated progress report and as you can see there is progress being made. Upcoming Schedule:
Thursday 9/17 - 5:30 PM practice at Sterchi Hills Park (forecast is for rain but we will run in the rain; if we have thunder and lightning we’ll call the practice on site)

Hi everybody.
We got off to a good start yesterday at our season opener out at the Knoxville Livestock Center. That was quite a cross country course; maybe the toughest one we’ll run this season. We have work to do but don’t get discouraged; as we put in the work we will see the results!
Gresham Boys finished 20th out of 22 teams
Top 5 Boys:
Andrew Bivens (110th out of 254 runners)
Parson Campen
Ethan Kirkland
Barrett Lemons
Ethan Bush
Top 2 Girls (we need 5 to score as a team so no team place for girls):
Summer Graham (142nd out of 207 runners)
Heyne Dugger
I’ve attached a sheet showing times and places. I’ll update this sheet as we go through the season so you can keep up with your progress and the team’s progress.
Now just a couple of things:
Group Run at Cove Lake this afternoon at 3:00 PM. This will be supervised by KYA. Come if you can
No practice tomorrow; Enjoy Labor Day! Run on your own if you feel good.
Practice Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Sterchi Hills Park
Cove Lake Meet Thursday. We are in early waves so this may be a little tight
Boys run at 5:00 PM
Girls run at 5:15 PM
Everybody arrive by 4:15 PM or just as soon as you can get there.
I still need fees ($35 to KYA) and/or medical information forms from a few (Bivens, Campen, Lemons); I need this by Tuesday
I picked up a KYA program T-shirt designated for Gresham at the meet yesterday. If you ordered this online, let me know as I don’t know who it’s for.
Any questions, let me know.
See you Tuesday!

Hi everybody. Here’s some updated information and schedule for the next few days.
We will practice today at 5:45 at Sterchi Hills Park and I will be handing out jerseys this afternoon. You will keep the jersey for the duration of the season and return it to me clean after the final meet. If you’re not able to be at practice today you can get your jersey at the meet on Saturday.
Saturday’s meet is at the Knoxville Livestock Center (8706 Mascot Rd.). Boys run at 12:00 Noon and Girls run at 12:15. They are asking us not to arrive more than 45 minutes before our start time but if everybody can arrive by 11:15 that will work. We’ll have a tan colored tent with a Gresham CC banner on it so look for us where the tents are set up. There is a $5 charge for parking so be prepared for that. They will be limiting congregating and certain areas like the start and finish areas will be restricted. There will not be any water provided post-race. We’ll likely have some bottled water at the tent but otherwise bring what you need.
Remember to take care of the waiver/safety protocol forms linked below if you haven’t already.
A few of you have not yet paid your fees ($35 to KYA) and/or submitted your medical information form. Please do that just as soon as possible (today or Saturday).
There will be a group run Sunday afternoon at Cove Lake State Park, the site of our meet next Thursday. It’s open from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM but pretty sure 3:00 PM will be the time designated for middle school. I’ll let you know once I hear for sure. This is not mandatory but it’s a good chance to check out the course, especially if you haven’t run there before. I will not be there on Sunday but it is supervised by KYA and Cove Lake is a really nice place for a family afternoon.
We do have a page at https://www.facebook.com/GreshamCC and I’ll be posting these e-mail messages there as well. Post any pictures you take there or send them to me and I’ll post them up there.
We will not practice Monday as it’s Labor Day and will practice Tuesday at 5:30PM as usual. Next week’s meet at Cove Lake is on Thursday and I’ll provide more details on that later.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
See you this afternoon!

Hi everybody. I haven't been posting here but will start duplicating e-mail messages here for those of you for whom FB is easier. Just a reminder, we are still able to add kids to the team for a few more weeks so come on out! We currently have 6 boys and 2 girls but we need more! Feel free to reach out to me here or at [email protected] or 865-548-7664 for more info.

Hi everybody. We are hoping to have cross country at Gresham as normal. Stay tuned for more information and reach out to me if you're new and would like to talk about it more. Bobby Glenn [email protected] 865-548-7664

Hi everybody.
I have the jerseys and will be distributing them at practice this afternoon. If you’re unable to make today’s practice I’ll have them on Saturday. You will be responsible for these for the remainder of the season and will return them to me clean at the end of the season.
Today’s practice will be a bit on the short side so we’ll be done by 6:30 (Indian run to the soccer fields and back followed by 8X80m pickups on the grass.
I have us registered for the meet this Saturday as well as for the rest of the season’s meets. If you haven’t already done so, please get your medical information form and fees in to me ($32 either in cash or a check made out to me; I’ll pay KYA).
This Saturday girls run at noon (arrive by 11:15 AM) and boys run at 12:30 (arrive by 11:45). The meet is at Victor Ashe Park. We will be set up in a tan colored tent with a Gresham banner on it. Our tent will be at the end of the soccer field amidst most of the other ones. If anybody has transportation issues, let me know and I’ll get the word out. Traffic and parking can be a bit crazy so allow extra time if you are able.
For next week:
Sunday - Group run at Cove Lake State Park at 3:00 PM. These are optional and are supervised by KYA. I will not be there but there is usually a good crowd. I would encourage you to go, especially if you haven’t seen the course before as this will be an opportunity to run over it in advance of Thursday’s meet.
Monday - No practice
Tuesday - Practice at 5:30 PM at Sterchi Hills Park
Thursday - Meet at Cove Lake State Park. Girls run at 6:00 PM (arrive by 5:15 PM). Boys run at 6:30 PM (arrive by 5:45 PM). Traffic and parking can be a little crazy, so allow extra time if you are able.
Any questions, let me know.
