Our delegation to the 2026 North American Kyudo Seminar learned much from the four Japanese sensei dispatched to Vancouver, Canada.

Eric and Jiufu were asked to perform in a demonstration the third day of the seminar due to the high quality of their taihai (formal movement).

Anthony shot in a tiebreaker for third place Junior Division during the taikai (tournament). He ended up getting fourth place. More opportunity next year!

We’re happy to announce our Nidan candidates Steven, Anthony, and Evan have passed.

We had a celebratory dinner with Renseikan, as well as an informal morning breakfast with members of the NCKF before the journey back to California.

Sunday’s practice at the Post will be the last Shiseikan practice before many of our kyudoka journey to the Vancouver seminar. Had a bit of a problem with storage containers in the way, but in the kyudo wilderness anything is possible.

Shiseikan hosted its annual 2026 Fourth of July Tournament at Foothill College, welcoming members of the Northern California Kyudo Federation () to compete amongst two teams: Stars and Stripes. The results are as follows:

2026 Foothill College AAPI Heritage Month Demo

In May, Shiseikan had the pleasure of hosting a demonstration at Foothill College for AAPI Heritage Month. Dojo members performed a three person ceremony and guided attendees through a hands-on experience with practice bows. Many thanks to Peter Chow for helping coordinate the event!
