This page is for the LaGrange College Sport Performance Enhancement Education and Development (SPEED) Center.
The SPEED Center is a unique resource for both the athletic community and students of LaGrange College. It provides educational, service, and research opportunities for students, athletes and coaches. It is also the home of the LaGrange Weightlifting Club. Our faculty are experienced as strength and conditioning coaches, sport scientists, sport psychologists, weightlifting coaches, sport coaches,
researchers, professors, personal trainers, and nutritional advisors. Research has shown that specific performance variables are related to increased sport performance and through monitoring these variables, we believe that valuable information can be provided to coaches, which will be beneficial in the development of athletes. With data from athlete monitoring, coaches will know if their athletes are developing properly, If alterations need to be made in their training or practice sessions, or possibly if athletes are at risk of fatigue, injury, or illness. One of the most intriguing and exciting benefits of the SPEED center is the experience gained by students. Students are able to immediately apply concepts learned in class, actively monitor the physical and physiological statuses of athletes, and contribute to exercise and sport science research. This is an invaluable advantage for the LaGrange College exercise science student.
