Looks like last nights storm shook a few feathers on the west side of San Antonio giving us a great deal of rain ☔️ and a few scares. 😂 This video was caught by our security camera outback when a bolt of lightning 🌩 that struck nearby woke up my husband and startled me in the process while i was inside watching the radar. 🤭🤣
But the sun is shining for now as a new set of storms develop into the afternoon due to a dry line thats set up in the West of Texas and a frontal system in the North-East portion of Texas and Oklahoma.
Had to switch to a different source for radar to share with you all, however, looks like this is just the beginning of a somewhat fast moving storm. Gusts of 30-40mph winds and lots of rain, heavy at times. There is quite a bit of lightning, so i urge those who are still up to unplug or power down your computers 🖥 and maybe have a flashlight near the bedside just im case you plan to be up for a bit or if you have kids that easily wake.
There isn’t even lightning 🌩 near my house, but i could hear the wind and somehow the shake of thunder. Low and behold a storm is brewing to the West. 🧐 looks like Chemistry 🧪 is taking a backseat for a bit while i track this storm. Showing some Heavy Rain, and winds starting to gust up to 18mph

When i first saw the “Weather” issue from Kids Discovery Magazine back in the 90’s I was immediately drawn into the fascinating world of meteorology.
My favorite past time as a kids came in the spring when the weather started to get interesting with storms and potential hurricanes. living on the east coast we had a lot of close calls, so it made things interesting. I had a notebook i labeled “So called storms” which I took out whenever the warning/watches from the NWS (National Weather Service) went off, followed by me running under my moms legs to go outside and start observing. I was born for the chase, and the goal was to prove them wrong or verify what was happening above and enjoy the beautiful clouds, thunder and rain around me. When hurricane Isabel hit in 2003 our power went out almost immediately, so my parents let me take a front row seat on our covered porch wearing a trash bag to watch the gusty winds, dark clouds and sideway rain as the hurricane bypassed us. By morning we walked through our neighborhood to see tree’s broken in half, debris in yards and many people includes ourselves still left without power.
Atmospheric Science was always my plan for college but with lack of support and funds, I found myself on a different path; one with the United States Air Force where i met my husband and had two amazing children. After years of being a stay at home wife we visited the topic of what i wanted to do as a career, and my love for weather arose. So, here i am back at school pursuing my Bachelors Degree in what i love most, with the best support system i could ask for.
