More Good News!

Due to recent changes to federal law and guidance issued by the ATF, tax stamps are no longer required to legally possess a suppressor for your fi***rm. Given these changes, if your suppressor is legally possessed, and it is attached to a fi***rm that is legal for the season you are hunting, you are not violating state law and you are clear to use it to hunt.

BIG NEWS for suppressor and SBR shoppers! The ATF’s October 9 update says it will not enforce NFA prior-approval, making, transfer, registration and marking requirements for suppressors (silencers), SBRs, SBSs and AOWs, nationwide, not just for the parties in the lawsuit.

What still applies: suppressor transfers go through a dealer on Form 4473 with a NICS background check. Recordkeeping, state-residency requirements and the prohibition on transfers to prohibited persons still apply. Machine guns and destructive devices are not covered; dealers still need an SOT for NFA business; and Form 20 is still required for interstate SBR/SBS travel.
