Drum Major and Junior, MaKenna Gay, spent her day off by going to Auburn University’s “Music Major for the Day”camp. This is what she has to say:
“I loved the opportunity I got to have to see everyone going into a college setting where they felt seen and represented. Learning about different majors within the broad genre in music was exciting! I was eager to be apart of this symphonic band as a high school student. All together I really enjoyed the music program they have at Auburn and can’t wait until the next one! War eagle!”
Even if your student is not considering Auburn as a school, it’s a great experience that you might want to consider just to learn more about how music programs work at the collegial level!
