They had never met before. One came from Afghanistan. One from Dana Point, California. Two Marines, two different journeys, connected by the same mission.
In 2009–2010, Fahim Fazli and Jamey M. Federico served alongside the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan—Fahim as a cultural, technical, and language advisor, and Federico as a Marine officer and AH-1Z Cobra pilot.
They never met in Afghanistan.
Fourteen years later, their paths finally crossed in Dana Point, California, when Jamey M. Federico was serving as Mayor of Dana Point.
From the battlefields of Afghanistan to the beautiful coast of Southern California, two Marines who had never met during their service finally met in their own community.

From Afghanistan to Texas, and from one side of the world to another, two people began their lives far apart.
At 17, neither Regina nor Fahim could have imagined that, at the age of 60, their paths would finally cross in Dana Point, California.
Two lives. Two journeys. Two different places of birth. Yet somehow, love brought them together.
At 60, they found something beautiful—a love built on understanding, patience, friendship, and the feeling of finally finding someone who truly understands your heart.
Their story is a reminder that love has no borders, no distance, and no age. It doesn’t matter where you were born or how many miles separate two hearts.
When love is strong enough, it can cross continents and bring two souls together.
This is the love story of Regina and Fahim—two hearts that found each other at 60. ❤️🌎❤️

From Hollywood and Eventually to Bollywood
In 2026, 55 years after that childhood dream began, Fahim Fazli’s journey came full circle. He had the opportunity to work on the major Bollywood production The King, alongside Abhishek Bachchan, the son of his childhood idol, Amitabh Bachchan, and with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
What began with a five-year-old boy dreaming in Afghanistan had become a reality more than half a century later. His journey had taken him from Afghanistan to America, from Hollywood to Bollywood, and from being inspired by a legendary actor to sharing the screen with the next generation of that legendary family.
The stories of Amitabh Bachchan and Fahim Fazli remind us that every great journey begins with a dream. One became a Bollywood icon who inspired generations; the other carried that inspiration across continents and decades, creating his own path from Afghanistan to Hollywood and, eventually, to Bollywood.
Dreams may take decades to come true, but with passion, patience, perseverance, and determination, they can become reality. Dreams have no borders—and neither does inspiration. The distance between Afghanistan and India could never stop a dream that began in the heart of a five-year-old boy. 🇦🇫❤️🇮🇳

Afghanistan gave me my roots, my culture, and my history. America gave me a home, opportunity, and the freedom to dream.

America gave me a home, an opportunity, and a place to build my life. Afghanistan gave me my roots, my culture, my history, and the identity I carry with pride. I don’t have to choose between the two. I can honor where I came from while appreciating the country that became my home.
My heart has room for both America and Afghanistan, and I will always carry both countries with me. My dream, my passion, and my journey are in both Hollywood and Bollywood as an actor.

A Recommendation for Casting Director Tulsi Ram

When I came to America in 1985, my dream was to become an actor. When I met Tulsi Ram, he believed in me and helped open doors at the beginning of my Hollywood career. At that time, I was one of the few Afghan actors in Hollywood, and Tulsi saw my passion and dedication. He once told me, “Fahim, one day you’re going to make it.” I will never forget those words.

Tulsi was different from many people I met in the industry. He never asked me for a manager’s or casting fee. He simply believed in helping actors and giving people opportunities. He was not only a talented casting director but also one of the kindest and most generous people I have known in Hollywood.

Tulsi is also a talented musician trained in South Indian Carnatic classical music and has worked in India, France, and the United States. He founded Nandinee Productions and has supported diverse talent throughout his career.

Today, as Tulsi continues his journey in Chennai, India, I want to take a moment to thank and recommend him. Tulsi, thank you for believing in me, helping me at the beginning of my career, and always being a good human being. I will never forget you. I love you, my brother, and I will always be grateful.

I’m truly grateful and honored to have been part of this special event supporting our veterans. 🇺🇸❤️ I recently found this video from January 25, 2018, and I wanted to share it with all of you.
It was an unforgettable experience joining Retired Lieutenant Colonel Michael Moffett of the United States Marine Corps and Master of Ceremonies Jack Heath for Veterans Count in New Hampshire. I had the opportunity to speak about my journey as an Afghan-born American, a linguist and interpreter for the U.S. Marines, an actor, author, and a man of two worlds.
I will always be grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences, stories, and perspective with our veterans and communities. Thank you to Veterans Count, The Music Hall in Portsmouth, the Rochester Opera House, Lieutenant Colonel Moffett, Jack Heath, and everyone who welcomed us so warmly.

Recognizing the People Behind the Scenes of Our Afghan Community
As an Afghan-American actor and author, I would like to take a moment to recognize the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our Afghan culture, traditions, and identity alive in America. For decades, so many people have worked behind the scenes to organize Afghan New Year’s Nowruz, holiday celebrations, cultural events, and community gatherings, yet their hard work often goes unrecognized. Today, I want to introduce and sincerely thank Shoaib Azizi, a man I have known for more than four decades. Throughout the years, Shoaib has dedicated his time and energy to bringing Afghans together and making sure our community continues to celebrate our culture and traditions far from our homeland. We had the opportunity to reconnect again at the Rumi Awards red carpet in Las Vegas, where he once again invited me to be part of Afghan celebrations. Shoaib has also been a real estate broker for more than 17 years, serving the San Diego and Riverside communities in Southern California, while continuing to contribute to Afghan community events, including the Nowruz Afghan New Year Festival in San Diego.
