Big day for Category 5 Racing.

Today we picked up our brand new 24’ trailer from Keystone Trailers, and it’s hard to put into words what this means for our team. Over the last year we’ve grown faster than we ever expected, and we officially outgrew our old setup. This trailer is another big step forward as we continue building the program the right way and pushing toward the next level.

A huge thank you to Keystone Trailers for working with us and helping make this happen. We’re excited to put it to work this season and continue growing.

We also want to thank my uncle for making the trip down and helping get it safely back and into the driveway — it definitely wouldn’t have happened without the extra hand.

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes lately. Between sourcing this new trailer, working to bring on new sponsors and partners, and dialing everything in for the season — including dropping from 195 lbs down to 174 lbs to get closer to race weight — we’ve been running full speed. We’ve got more exciting news coming soon, but today we’re taking a breather to appreciate this milestone and share it with everyone.

We’re just getting started. Big things ahead for 2026.

After getting things situated to go racing this morning we have discovered there is a severe knock upon starting the engine. Reluctantly this has forced us to cancel racing tonight. This was going to be our last night of racing. So we’re done for the season. Thank you to everyone that showed support and we hope to see you next season. As we move forward and discover what the exact issue is we shall give updates.

From the Pole to the Pits: How Our Night Unraveled at the Track 🏁

We were about a second off pace in practice, so when we pulled the #1 pill to start on the pole for the first heat, I made the call to start in the rear. I wasn’t going to risk getting run over being that far off. If we had to fight our way into a transfer spot, that’s just what we were going to do — grit our teeth and go for it.

We picked up 2 spots and finished 7th of 9, falling just 2 positions short of transferring to the A-main.

While making setup changes and a gear change for the B-main, we found major play in the right rear torsion bar bushing. We still lined up 5th, but I forgot to remind Dad that the sprocket holder has to be installed a certain way. That threw the alignment way off, and the chain came off almost immediately.

Not the night we hoped for, but the car came home mostly in one piece. We’ll use this downtime to fix the mechanical issues, sort out the engine hiccups, and come back ready to compete.

Picked it up today after repairs—everything looks solid. Big thanks to Bernheisel Race Components for knocking it out and getting it done right. Always appreciate good work from people who know their stuff.

After 5 hours of work yesterday, we got the frame stripped down and ready to head out for repairs. Wrapped up washing the car around 1:30-2:00

Frame heads out on the 16th. If all goes to plan, we’re aiming to be back around the 4th of July. Still a mountain of work ahead—top end of the old motor’s getting redone. Not ideal, especially after what went into the new one, but with a cracked block that’s just how it goes. We’ll tear it down, keep moving forward, and rebuild stronger.
