Lansdale Tigers/Cannoneers - PVTL Baseball

It all must come to an end, and last night the Tigoneers fell to Collegeville in Game 5, 7-3.

Thank you to all our fans, followers, and supporters. Thanks also to our Manager Jeff Murtha, Pitcher Pete Moore, 3b/2b Matt Cavagnaro, and catcher Frank Po***ck as they are stepping away. The Perky League season is a grind. It’s a choice to play, but it takes dedication and sacrifice. It’s not just some “beer league softball team.” This team played 35 games this year. They played for a town, a name, and most importantly each other. They also did it the right way.

Despite losing, this team will go down as one of the greatest Lansdale teams ever. Anyone that came out was treated to some great baseball, packed full of action. We hit 47 home runs this year that included 24 in the playoffs (11 games). We saw starting pitchers start back to back games, one day rest, and two days rest over the past three weeks. Unheard of.

We are unsure of our path next year. We will likely rebuild, though we can’t replace those guys that have dedicated so much of their time the last few years. For now we recover and regroup.

Thank you all again for following and supporting. And biggest thank you to the Cannoneers Sportsmens Club for the support and allowing us to represent the name.

Tigoneers dropped a tough Game 3 after leading 3-1 in the fifth (5-3). In Game 4 the Tigoneers rebounded, winning 14-4. Chad Evans led the charge with 2 HRs, going 3-4 on the night with 5 RBIs. Frank Po***ck also homered on the night. Jason Mills threw 7 innings on a gutsy 1-day-of-rest performance, scattering 10 hits and 4 runs, striking out 4 for the win. Matt Cavagnaro went 3-5 (2B), Anthony Bruno 3-4 (2B), Robbie Zinsmeister 2-4, and Jason Mills 2-4.

So here it is. Game 5 for all the marbles! ⚾️⚾️⚾️

The weather got the game, but not the wonderful HOF induction of Al Warner. Game 3 was halted in the bottom of the 4th inning with the Tigoneers leading 3-1. Dylan Tice drove home Robbie Zinsmeister with a single in bottom of the third. With 1 out and Tice on first, Anthony Bruno hit a laser to the opposite field, slicing around the foul pole to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Tyler Leonard threw 4 solid innings, giving up 2 hits, 1ER, and striking out 5.

The Game 3 conclusion will start tonight at 630pm, followed by Game 4 after! ⚾️⚾️⚾️ 2 for the price of 1 tonight at Weaver Field (Memorial Park - Lansdale). Come out, grab a dog, a pretzel, a soda, and enjoy some great baseball!

Tonight Lenny DelGrippo goes into the Perky League Hall of Fame. Come celebrate one of the best careers the League has seen! We were lucky to call Lenny a Tiger/Cannoneer!

We tried. Game 2 of the series will resume tonight at 6:30PM at Weaver Field in Lansdale. Game 3 will take place immediately following the conclusion of Game 2.

Last night the bats came alive, again. In the top of the 2nd Robbie Zinsmeister led off the inning with a single, then stole second base. Dylan Tice then moved Robbie over with a ground ball to first base. Matt Cavagnaro then grounded out to second, scoring Robbie. The Tigoneers then got the next 7 hitters on base scoring 6 more runs, that included a bomb from Ben Farley. Give an inch, take a mile.
