Initiating the first latch is the beginning to insuring your breastfeeding journey thrives.
First latch tips
• Make sure your baby is tummy-to-tummy with you.
• Remember to keep your baby’s ear, shoulder, and hip in alignment, which will make swallowing easier.
• Aim the ni**le toward the baby’s upper lip/nose, not the middle of the mouth. You might need to rub the ni**le across the top lip to get your baby to open his/her mouth.
• Look to see if the baby’s bottom and top lip are flanged out like fish lips.

Delayed cord clamping vs. Lotus birth
Delayed Cord clamping/cutting involves no immediate clamping and cutting of the umbilical cord. Instead, allowing extra time for the blood in the cord and placenta to flow to the baby. Eventually, the placenta, or afterbirth, detaches from the uterus and is also delivered.
Lotus birth involves the decision to leave your baby's umbilical cord attached after they are born. The umbilical cord remains attached to the placenta until it dries and falls off by itself.
These practices are safe and highly advised.
