Through a series of conversations with the client and the client's family, we formulate an individual strategy that is tailored to each player's unique talents, goals and visions. 4th & Long's main objective in public relations is to build and maintain a favorable, likeable image, persona and brand to leverage our marketing efforts on our client's behalf.
4th & Long approaches public relations with a unique strategy in place for each one of our clients, based on their interests, personality and desired commitment. We have relationships with mainstream and sports media outlets, which enable our clients to receive the best off the fieldcoverage and access to all types of entertainment events.
4th & Long believes that building a strong public image for each of our clients is a critical part of their career development, both on and off the playing field. The first image is developed with our client's performance on the field; the latter comes from building relationships with the media and public off the field. Build Media Relations
Establishing relations with targeted media professionals who have the power to publicize our athletes is imperative. This
includes calling on specific editors and producers with relevant information. In addition to networking with appropriate media contacts it is important to pitch to these contacts specific stories that will help create publicity opportunities for our athlete/event. This will include the production and distribution of press kits and/or press releases that are focused on stories, ideas and events. Track Press
Tracking and clipping current and ongoing press for our athlete is valuable. It is important to get a sense of how our athletes are being positioned and make necessary adjustments to marketing and public relations efforts accordingly. Additionally, it is helpful to include current editorial press for inclusion in press kits. Sports Marketing
At 4th & Long, we take a big-picture approach to marketing. By focusing on the complete development of the player-brand, we allow our clients to maximize their off the field earnings. We do this by developing the "Person as a Brand." We begin with a focus on community. We believe that sponsors are much more willing to work with athletes who are making a difference in the community. We align our players with local organizations who focus on causes that matter to them. Our relationships with print and broadcast media allow us to help the public become more aware of our clients. Next we focus on Social Media. Depending on the client, we will create a page & maintain it for them, we give advice on Twitter content & tweets and we allow companies to really get an insight on our players by creating & maintaining a Tumblr blog for them. Finally, we focus on endorsements. We identify potential partners in relevant local, regional, national and global markets and diligently pitch our client "brands" by alligning future edorsers' mission & goals with our clients. Ultimately, our mission is to create new avenues for personal and professional fulfillment that provide both short and long-term opportunities that will aid in the development of one's character, community and life.
