This is absolutely amazing news and it couldn’t come at a better time. The laws with dealing with mental health in this country are just ridiculous. It’s the reason why you see so many people, who are obviously suffering from mental illness, in the street. You can’t make someone get treatment regardless of how sick they might be.
Drs, therapists, psychiatrists, etc, have been pushing for this for decades now. A bipartisan vote has finally made it happen. If you have a loved one suffering from mental illness and they refuse to get help, a judge can now mandate it. Even if they refuse.

Our baby girl turns 1 year old today. It’s been quite the interesting, amazing, and unpredictable experience. But somehow my beautiful wife and I kept her alive for a year. We love you Princess Amelie. Happy 1st Birthday 🥳

Can you turn fat into muscle?
No.
It's misinformation. Don't know where it started but people truly believe if they workout, their fat will turn into muscle.
They are two very different things.
- Muscle grows and shrinks. IT DOES NOT TONE!
- Fat can come and go. IT DOES NOT TONE!
Now you can grow muscle and lose fat simultaneously. But your fat does not transform into muscle.
When you workout and increase your protein intake, you will build muscle. (And no, ladies, you will not get bulky) But rather, you’ll put on a normal amount of muscle. Which is super important in being healthy.
So where does your fat go?
Well believe it or not, you breathe it away.
That doesn't mean that if you stand in a corner panting away that you will shed all your weight (you’ll just get light headed and pass out).
Exercise and proper nutrition is the ultimate Dream Team.
It's why strength training is so important regardless of your goal. Your muscles need to work to grow and become stronger, which in turn will help burn fat away.
Muscle is the strongest fat burner in the body!
It's why your goal shouldn't just be to lose weight, but to also get stronger. Your muscles play a significant role in keeping you healthy. So it's important you don't neglect them.

This Thanksgiving....EAT ALL THE FOODS!
We need to stop negotiating for junk food aka. sweets, soft drinks, desserts, cookies, frappes, beer, etc. with exercise.
You don't have to do anything to eat and drink whatever you want. Never punish yourself with physical activity after eating something, whatever it is.
Enjoy the foods and drinks you eat and feel good about them in the moment. Enjoy going for coffee or a few beers with friends. Food is a positive thing, especially when it involves bringing us closer together and forming human connection.
Physical activity is not a punishment.
Physical activity is done because you feel good about it, because it is fun and good for your long-term health. Eating what we want and also exercising are two POSITIVE things we do because we feel good about it in one way or another. One doesn't have to be conditional on the other and neither should be a reward or punishment for the other.
Exercise because you feel good about it.
Treat yourself and enjoy food because you feel good about it.
Stop the self-abuse, negative self-talk, and self-inflicted punishment. Be physically active, enjoy the foods you love often, and do what you feel good about.

You ever put the kids to bed and then somewhere along the line you find yourself on the couch, elbow deep into a bag of chips that is almost empty, and you don't really remember making the decision to do it?
You swear - no more snacking after putting the kids to bed.
The next night - You look up and you're a half sleeve into a sharing bag of cookies…
What the....! What is WRONG with me?!
THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS YOUR BRAIN ON AUTOPILOT.
A lot of our actions throughout the day are on autopilot.
It makes sense. There are so many micro decisions throughout the day that we couldn't possibly be present for every, single decision.
But when a decision that we have on autopilot is negatively affecting us - we need to become more aware.
Let's take a look at your habit loop. There are 4 steps:
1. The Cue: This is a bit of information that predicts a reward of some sort. e.g. Putting the kids to bed.
2. The Craving: This is the motivation behind your behavior. e.g. Wanting to be entertained and turn your brain off.
3. The Response: The behavior you actually do. e.g. Going to the kitchen, grabbing the Oreo box, and going to the living room.
4. The Reward: The end goal of the habit. e.g. Binging trash tv and eating a row of cookies. Getting to relax and do something for yourself.
To deal with the habit loop, we have to become more aware of it and once we are, we can look at how to rewire the habit loop into something positive.
