Marlon "Chito" Vera and José Aldo are scheduled to face each other in a highly anticipated submission-only grappling rematch at Hype Fighting Championship this October in Quito, Ecuador

▪️The First Match: In December 2020 at UFC Vegas 17, José Aldo used a veteran game plan and heavy back-control in the third round to hand Vera a unanimous decision loss.

▪️ The Rematch Twist: This bout brings the MMA legends onto the mats rather than into a cage. Both fighters are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. However, Vera has more recent competitive grappling experience, having competed to a draw against Jean Silva under the Hype FC banner earlier this year.

▪️Home Advantage: This marks a major homecoming for "Chito" Vera, who gets to look for redemption against the legendary former UFC featherweight champion in front of his home crowd in Ecuador

Jon Jones issued a public statement taking the blame for Gable Steveson’s controversial early exit from the Octagon following his shocking 12-second knockout loss to Sean Sharaf

“I’ve seen some reports on line and I really wanted to clear the air. It was my decision to take Gable straight to the back after the fight. Honestly it was the first time in this situation for me and my instant reaction was to get my friend to the back to make sure he was ok. Gable’s work ethic and will to win is there and I stand by him and believe he will go on to be one of the best heavyweights in the ufc. He will be back I’m sure of it”

“Coming into this fight, after the press conference in Philly, I tore my AC joint in my right shoulder and I couldn't even spar. So, the last two weeks was my first time sparring, and this camp we did nothing but cardio” — Joshua Van

▪️The loss snapped a three-fight bantamweight win streak for the 30-year-old Canadian, who chose to prioritize his long-term health but according to UFC officials did not require immediate transport to a hospital

Always Be Humble…

Sports journalist Ariel Helwani of Uncrowned Media noted the following: “Gable Steveson needs to humble himself, he acts and conducts himself like he is Jon Jones. Well, he’s not Jon Jones. He’s nowhere near Jon Jones. Jon Jones had a lot of demons, Jon Jones did a lot of things, but Jon Jones had a lot of incredible mma talent, and before he started doing those things, he had a lot of fights under his belt.

Gable Steveson doesn’t have all these fights under his belt, and he is conducting himself like he’s been there done that. He has a ton of work to do to win the fans over and quite honestly I don’t think he will ever win them over.

The Internet is one thing, but did you hear those boos? You’re not Jon Jones. It’s one thing to be mentored by Jon Jones but don’t play the same hits as Jon Jones, cause you’re not him”
