Before my previous marriage, I was actually in a season of preparing for marriage.

I was praying, preparing myself to become a wife and then a man entered my life. Because of the timing, I assumed he must be the answer to what I had been praying for.

Looking back, I believe I mistook a counterfeit for confirmation.

That experience taught me something I want other women to understand:

Just because you’re preparing for marriage doesn’t mean the next man who enters your life is your husband.

This is why discernment in Christian dating matters so much. Pray. Fast. Ask questions. Pay attention to red flags. And don’t allow physical attraction, chemistry or lust to make you overlook what wisdom is showing you.

Preparation doesn’t replace discernment.

Being set apart means realizing that just because everyone around you is comfortable with something doesn’t mean God has given you permission to move the same way.

When you’re dating as a Christian woman and preparing for marriage, you can’t make decisions based only on what feels good in the moment.

For me, that means setting boundaries, choosing abstinence, being willing to walk away when something doesn’t align, and not allowing chemistry or temporary desires to override what I’ve been praying for.

Dating with a purpose requires discipline.
