Failure is part of the process.
There are two types of failures I believe exist...
👉 Micro Failures
👉 Macro Failures
💥The list of micro failures will (and should be) long. These are the failed auditions, the blanking on choreography, your voice cracking, etc. These all need to happen. These all need to be experienced in order for us to move forward, grow, and learn from so we can adapt and build success from them.
💥Macro failures on the other hand only happen if you quit or give up on moving towards the end goal. When you stop having and pursuing the micro failures that will get you to your end goal.
💥That said, it is ok for your goals to change and adapt as your career and circumstances change and adapt. Failure to accomplish something does not have to be negative... especially when you replace that goal with something that is bigger, more important, or supersedes it in some way.
👉Here is a great quote from JK Rowling that I think you'll enjoy...
"It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default."

The Callback...
We all want it.
It is the first WIN to getting BOOKED.
Over the past year the surge in submissions and virtualized auditioning is causing a revolution in HOW you get booked.
Traditionally, our physical presence and energy could help get us over the edge and in the Callback Pile, but as the industry shifts to more virtual platforms it is imperative you have the correct assets and resources to market yourself to the decision makers so you get called back.
Already, in NYC queues to be seen in person wrap around the block. As more and more performers graduate from various programs, the competition is only going to increase. The only viable way to be seen for enough opportunities to book one will be through virtual platforms and submissions.
❓Do you have what you need to ensure you stand out from everyone else?

*Every* successful entertainment career is built on these 3 Core Pillars.
⭐ Markets
⭐ Marketing
⭐ Mindset
> Markets are the physical locations you can work in, as well as what you actually do in that location.
> Marketing is how you get yourself noticed, called back, and get booked.
> Mindset is the glue that holds it together.
👉 It is VITAL these 3 are in balance IF you intend on creating and having a long-term successful entertainment career.
👉 The EXCITING PART is that you can control each of the pillars. The entertainment industry is one of the most subjective industries in existence. SO much is out of our control, but these 3 Pillars are in our control AND they stack the deck in your favor so book the job more consistently.

So often I see performers fixate on being on Broadway or "making it" in Hollywood.
I'll be the first to tell you to go for it! Pursue your dreams and make it happen for yourself, but also make sure you do your research and get clarity on what you truly want out of your career.
It is one thing to desire to be on a Broadway stage, or be in a block buster feature... it is another thing entirely to do what it takes to get there.
Too often I see performers create the limiting mindset that they will only be a success if they make it on Broadway or Hollywood, and as a result they don't immerse themselves into jobs they do book, create a superiority complex, or worse... regularly turn down opportunities that would refine their skills and develop the needed industry relationships.
The reality is those two markets only make up about 2% of the professional performance industry. There is so much more out there. So many markets that can serve you and train you. So many markets where you can refine and optimize your skillsets.
Working professionally will always provide you with more long-term career value than only going to classes.
👉Be open to opportunity.
👉Say, "Yes." the majority of the time.
👉Be clear on what you want.

👉It's very difficult to have commitment without clarity.
I'll even go so far as to say, the effectiveness of your commitment will be measured by the clarity of your commitment.
Too many of us have a perception of what they think they want, and have never actually taken the time to really ask themselves, "What do I want?" "Is what I've been working towards truly what I want out of my life?"
The entertainment and performance industry is global, and it is massive! Keep your eyes open to opportunity and explore various possibilities.
🔥If you want massive success (whatever that means to you) take the time to find where your heart is drawn to, what you truly want, then commit with clarity.

💡The mental game is so important to your entertainment career.
Purposefully and Consciously putting routines and actions in place allows you to gain control over your mindset, your anxiety levels, and stress levels. It allows you to build confidence, raise your energetic levels, and show up present.
How you go about creating your routines or finding resources or methods that work for you is personal and individual to you.
🔥Here are 5 that can help you create your own solution...
👉Give yourself permission to try new things without judgement
👉Create a morning routine
👉Consciously control the information you consume
👉Meditate
👉Regularly be physically active

Every time I work with someone the first question I ask is...
👉"What do you truly want out of your entertainment career?"
For such a seemingly simple question, it has career altering impacts. Yet, almost no one takes the time to answer this question for themselves. (myself included... it took me years before I got honest with myself)
The reason this is so important is because we often 'think' we want something, or we are aspiring to work in some market because we have been conditioned to want whatever the 'thing' is.
🤯You need to get clear and be honest with yourself so you know for a fact you actually want what you're working towards.
For example, have you considered what it means to pursue your 'thing'? Do you love big cities? Do you hate big cities? Do you want to, or are you open to working multiple other non-arts related jobs so you can afford to live and pay the bills while you pursue your dreams? Do you simply want to be paid to do what you do best? Are you willing to drop everything and move anywhere in the World at a moments notice? Do you like the east coast? Do you like the west coast? Do you need income security, a 401K, and health insurance to feel comfortable? Are you ok with contracting/ freelancing your lifestyle and learning all the financial intricacies, added costs, and possible income instability that comes with that decision?
👉When you get clear with what you truly want out of your entertainment career it will be much easier to choose which market and type of work is best for you.
👉When you are in alignment with what serves you best, you become more 'attractive' your 'energy' is better... and THAT makes you more bookable. THAT is what creates fulfillment. THAT is what ensures you can do this for your entire career.

Look at everything through the lens of opportunity.
The second half of that of course is to then say, "Yes."
Everyone I have ever spoken with that has had a long career as a full-time entertainer has also had a very diverse career.
Opportunity is everywhere.
When you look at your every day life through the lens of opportunity... like magic... things begin happening for you. Maybe it's a new industry connection, maybe it's a performance opportunity, or a tangental "in" to a new niche in the industry?
Always be looking. Always have your eyes and ears open because often opportunities show themselves for a short window of time.
Be ready to grasp them. 💪
