At the retreat last week we were asked what makes our relationship sustainable.

Before we began our relationship, we made it clear to one another what we valued.

Amongst those values, the one that we feel has been so impactful has been our willingness to express & communicate.

From as simple as our needs that day all the way to what we’re challenged with & how we can support one another.

Both of us have our pursuits and we are very clear on what we want in our seperate lives. Because of this, it makes it simple to support one another & share a life together.

We are the first to notice when one another is acting out of integrity. We have the courage to intiate the uncomfortable conversations and we also respect the other’s space when it’s needed.

Rather than make up stories in our heads about what one of us is going through, we ask the questions to be curious & seek to understand.

We don’t look to fix one another yet simply share the space to be.

We come to each other in places of full vulnerability often and always create the space for each other, no matter how busy we are.

This level of emotional intimacy is the connection that we’ve always craved and ultimately what keeps our relationship sustainable.

Signed up for a 5k July 4th with !

I’m 2 weeks into my prep as we stand. Adapting faster than I imagined and feeling incredible.

Growing up I never excelled in sports as being strong. I was the skinny dude and I worked as hard as I could to be the fastest & most endured.

I envied the strength & size of my teammates and coming out of sports that’s another reason why I pursued bodybuilding.

I developed a belief through the years that I could no longer have running a part of my training if I wanted to get big.

I decided to get back into running simply to improve the way I felt. Didn’t want to feel as lethargic, wanted to use it as a way to feel more well-rounded as an athlete, and I’ve quickly become hooked.

I’ve let go of a lot of what I believed training to be for myself. And started looking at my fitness like I did before. As a means of accomplishment.

Every run I complete feels like such an accomplishment for me right now as it was very uncomfortable at first.

Excited to see where this journey takes me.

For now let’s ride!

These 3.

All came into my life in 2020 & since then have become brothers & sisters.

People who have been there for all the lows & the highs.

People who have unwavering commitment to the mission of

People whos relationships have made me a better man all around.

People who challenge me consistently to be my best.

Each of these individuals have traits I admire so much. Unconditional love, resilience, gentleness, strength, courage, vulnerability, passion, determination, patience… just to name a few.

These people have been absolute rocks in my life over the last 3 years. None of what you guys see here is possible without these individuals.

Cheers to our best event ever & the 3rd year of doing this. 🥂

Over these last 5 days we created a space for people to simply be themselves & be appreciated for it.

From laughter & play all the way to hugs & cries.

We have cultivated a community simply driven by one thing.

Love.

Love that turns strangers to friends, friends to community, community to family.

A family that understands that growth extends far beyond the physical form.

A family dedicated to the growth of the mind & soul.

A family that is Beyond Built.

——

Retreat #6 & live event #10.

These events are made possible simply by everyones mission here to make this world a better place.

A mission to develop the greatest versions of themselves & others through both health & heart.

More than just fitness coaching.

I made one of the toughest & easiest decisions at the same time a few weeks ago to step away from bodybuilding.

I was sat on my couch sweating, whole body in pain, with a deep cough. At this point It was my 4th time getting sick since the start of the year.

After competing in December at nationals I immediately got home and got hit with the worst sickness of my life. It made me super frustrated because all I wanted to do was keep training and get straight to growing out of the show.

Since that about every 4 weeks I've gotten sick again.

I tend to be very stubborn and I was aware my body was telling me to back off and take some time but I kept refusing. Mind you, I've been running PED's all the way from July of last year to currently. Training super hard, pushing a ton of food, running a business, coaching 60 clients.

Stress is a normal for me. I don't complain about it. I don't fold under it. I see it as part of the game and a navigator for me to point me in the direction of the things that need to get done. As putting things off only perpetuates it more.

Pushing food, training, & PEDs is hard on the body. My body has to do a lot of work to keep growing. At this point I was nearing 220lbs. 60lbs heavier than when I started this journey.

As I was sitting on the couch I was reflecting on this all and I asked myself... "Is this really worth it". Continuing to put my health in a bad spot at a young age to go pro.

I thought back to December of 2021. One of the most stressful months of my life. My relationship wasn't doing well. I felt like my back was against the wall in a lot of things. I was pushing PEDs, food, & really hard training. I had 2 panic attacks. Blood pressure 160/64. And my CRP at 9. Which is a marker of chronic imflammation.

That wasn't enough for me to learn.

This moment just a few weeks back was. My mental & emotional state has been affected by my physiological state. I wasn't feeling like myself. Was feeling low, low energy, sluggish, sleep was poor. And nothing about that felt congruent with who I am.

From Fast & Furious binges, to days spent playing Need for Speed, Midnight Club, going to car shows with my dad.

This is stuff I’ve always visualized as a kid doing one day. Funny how that works.

The YouTube is taking a very fun turn this Summer.

Happy Birthday Dad. ❤️

My dad turned 90 years old this week.

Just 3 years ago he fell outside, fractured a vertebrae, & it left him limited to move for over a year. He started losing weight & strength drastically.

Since then he’s recovered and is doing the best I’ve seen him do in years. He does everything he possibly can for his health every day.

He takes phone calls multiple hours of every day just to help as many people as he can.

He’s taught my so many lessons in my life that are still coming full circle to this day.

As much as we had a troubled relationship growing up I can sit here today and see how much he genuinely cared. How much he wanted to see me win. How much he loved me when I always thought I wasn’t loved.

Not the man I am today without him. He has ultimately become my hero & someone I look up to and honor so much in my life.

Love you Dad.

Let’s get to 100!!!!!

Complication is the enemy of ex*****on.

Simple makes it easy. Easy makes it hard.

The easy thing? Find every fu***ng excuse in the world to avoid doing the work and avoid facing the pain of change, discipline, and facing fear/discomfort.

The simple thing? Do what feels hard now... and it will eventually make your life easier long term.

The hardest thing to do is actually figure out what it is you really want. Not what anyone else wants for you. Not what you think you want because you want the praise & recognition. But what you REALLY want that serves a greater purpose beyond yourself.

With that out of the way it comes down to understanding and connecting DEEP with why you want it.

ANY and I mean any time you find yourself NOT doing the work it comes down to not knowing what you want or why you want it. What you THINK you want doesn't mean a thing if action doesn't back it up. If you really know what you want, the work takes care of itself. It no longer becomes a decision. It becomes automatic.

Every day you don't take the action necessary is another day spent lying to yourself about what you "want".

From working with hundreds of clients the most successful are the ones who are so vividly clear on what they want that they won't shut up about it. They have the CLARITY to ultimately give them the direction to make the decisions to get them closer to who they want to become.

Every day we have a decision to become that person or be more of the same thing.

Choose wisely.
