💥 At just 183 lb bodyweight, Russel Orhii executed a flawless 338 kg (745 lb) raw squat at the 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.

The lift was performed under IPF world-level judging, meaning every detail—depth, stability, and control—was held to the highest standard.

Without the use of wraps or a suit, Orhii relied solely on his technique, leg power, and composure under pressure.

When the bar settled, the referees gave three white lights, confirming the new IPF world record in the 83 kg raw division.

This performance showcased more than physical strength; it reflected years of refinement, precision, and discipline in one of powerlifting’s most competitive weight classes.

A 745 lb squat at 183 lb bodyweight represents a 4× bodyweight ratio, placing Orhii among the most efficient lifters in IPF history.

It’s a reminder that elite performance is built on consistency, not shortcuts—and that true mastery leaves nothing to chance.

Before he dominated at the world and Olympic level, @kyledake444 was already making waves in collegiate wrestling. But as he transitioned to the global stage, his training couldn’t keep up. His joints were becoming hyperflexible and riddled with imbalances, leaving him in constant pain and unable to show up to practice some days.

The methods of strength and conditioning he’d been using didn’t evolve. They were stuck in old patterns that left him feeling broken.

This is exactly where most fitness journeys flatline. You get stuck repeating the same lifts, following the same diet, making the same mistakes, and never truly adapting to what your body needs most.

Conventional training sells you repetition disguised as progress. They’re hyper-focused on progressive overload in the wrong direction. The numbers you put up on Olympic lifts are treated like the holy grail, despite them never being fully proven through science to improve athleticism.

These lifts are justified by pointing to the handful of athletes who succeed, while ignoring all those who followed the same program and never saw results or worse, are now broken because of them.

Real adaptation that translates from the training room to life and sport requires precision. It demands that you train the body you have right now, not the one you had yesterday.

At Functional Patterns, every rep addresses what’s actually happening in your structure. We focus on solving movement problems first, then building the strength that can actually be used. That’s what separates us from the sloppy variants out there.

Kyle’s story shows it: even the best can get stuck.
The difference? FP prepared him to train heavy without getting wrecked by lifts that began hurting him and causing hypermobility. We rebuilt the balance and integration his body needed to thrive on the world stage.

If you want to take care of the body you have now, without the need for exogenous substances or surgery later in life,
then you’re in the right place.
