connecting, healing, and understanding:
A New Chapter: Holding On, Letting Go, and Finding My New Norm
There comes a time in life when the heart, mind, and soul demand a pause — a moment to recover, to rethink, and to gently shift the path forward. I’ve reached that place.
Not long ago, I experienced one of life’s greatest joys — the wedding of my beloved son to an extraordinary woman: radiant, intelligent, and deeply rooted in culture. She is his perfect complement — the yin to his yang — and witnessing their union was nothing short of divine.
But joy was quickly followed by sorrow.
Shortly after the celebration, the Queen — my mother, my rock, my mentor — transitioned. Her passing left me hollow, adrift, and at a loss for words. The very next day, my father’s sister passed. Two days later, his brother. As I tried to find footing amidst the grief, more pain arrived — the heartbreaking loss of a close friend’s son.
I journeyed back to Africa, grieving and preparing for my son to give his father the gift of life — a kidney. But life had another plan. He too transitioned, far too soon, on April 28th. We celebrated his life over three days: August 7th, 9th, and 10th. Because some souls deserve more than just a moment of remembrance — they deserve a ceremony of honor.
Now, I find myself in the quiet after the storm. Surrounded by a lifelong friend, fresh air, flowers in bloom, clean food, and a simpler life — for now.
I’m learning how to hold up and hold on…
To laugh through tears, cry without shame, and embrace the unknown.
To grieve and grow.
To regroup, reflect, and gently begin again.
This is the journey toward my new norm — not with certainty, but with courage.
If you’re navigating a storm of your own, know this: you’re not alone. There is light after loss, even if it flickers slowly into view.
With love, resilience, and a heart still healing…
💛

There is always time for an artist to create and practice their skills
Just relax unwind and do the damn thang
Which drink and tool do you use when traveling?? I love to start with a mimosa to toast the moment and have the coffee with baileys to keep me up during the journey.
Love my new tools, and zigzag sketch book, H , and a black rasoplast eraser.
Flying provides time to think and create

Id rather talk to you at 3am than talk at your funeral. Nothing worse than losing a friend because they didn't think they had anyone to talk to 😢.
Phone always on, door always open and a drink can be easily poured. Support each other.
Do the people who are your ride or die know that u are always a phone call away? IF YOU ARENT SURE, reach out and tell them. Don’t wait until some event comes to light
Don’t take it for granted that your family or friend know that they can call you
If your pride is in the way of talking to a friend or family, a THERAPIST awaits. SelfCare is precious, take care of you or allow someone else to help
We all need somebody at a given time in your life
If you won’t or can’t talk to your family or friend, TALK to a peer.
😘😘🤍

Rising early morning for the treat of the day, sunrise in the French Riveria view from our unit is just off the chain. I caught the moments!
Oh how I savored the Memorable moments of the rising sun while sipping on my early morning black coffee reflecting on ,Still I rise
And Still I Rise
Poem by Maya Angelou
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

So I took a hiatus for five weeks, to recover, refresh and rejuvenate my spirit. It’s always refreshing as an artist to take a look through a different lens. The Traveling artist took off to the Maldives, Morocco and Lisbon and it liberated my spirit
