What do you get when you cross the in-depth engagement of a Morven Park civics lesson with the competitive excitement of March Madness? 10th graders at Stone Bridge High School found out this week when they played DocuMadness! This World History-based activity allows students to practice critical thinking, persuasion, and debate skills through the course of a March Madness-style bracket game. Starting with 16 famous historical documents, students must determine which is the most historically significant document and then use evidence (and plenty of confidence) to get their choice to the final round. This is a really fun lesson that gets students up on their feet and passionately participating in their history classrooms.

We had some guests at Corbell House (the headquarters for our Museum and Historic Preservation team) that were in need of rehoming. Thank you to the folks at Riverfox Farm who were able to come and safely remove the bees and will take them to live on their property.

It's always an exciting day at Morven Park!

Purchased by the Davises, these "throne chairs" are late 19th century reproductions made after an original 17th century Spanish design. A few years ago it was determined that conservation treatment would not only maintain the stability of the chairs but allow us to display them as they would have appeared to Westmoreland and Marguerite. Only two of the three chairs were conserved, the third is patiently waiting its turn.

It is through donations like yours that we are able to continue to care for and share our wonderful collection.

We are proud to be a Blue Star Museum.

This week, The Morven Park Center for Civic Impact had the amazing opportunity to participate in Loudoun's 2022 Youth in Government Day. We joined over 50 high school students as they met with Supervisors to better understand their local government. Morven Park led these ambitious teens through our "Balancing Act" lesson in which teams act as county planners, designing a new county and meeting the needs of their community members. We had a blast building our own Lego communities and getting to know these impressive . Thanks to our partner at @LoudounPRCS for inviting the Morven Park education team to this awesome event!

Our Story

COVID-19 Update:
The Pedestrian Entrance to the Park on Old Waterford Road is open daily from 9am-7pm.
We recognize being outdoors in nature is a great way to get much-needed fresh air and exercise and have decided to allow limited access to Park grounds in the interest of public health. Morven Park gates and parking lots will remain closed due to the fact that we cannot regulate the number of vehicles/people visiting the Park at any given time and need to remain in compliance with the federal directive to discourage crowds and large groups from gathering. Please note, all restrooms and Park buildings remain closed.

Morven Park, Loudoun County's most important community resource for current and future generations, has something for everyone! This 1,000-acre oasis in the heart of the county is home to the world-renowned Morven Park International Equestrian Center, the premier Morven Park Athletic Field Complex, the historic Davis Mansion, and the unique Winmill Carriage Museum. The picturesque grounds are open to the public every day, while the mansion and museum tour hours vary with the seasons. Tour schedules and a calendar of equestrian, athletic, and special events can be found at

Many visitors believe that Morven Park is a city or county resource, but it is actually a nonprofit that relies on support from people like you to remain open to the public. Support the Park at
