Trails are riding great! Did a lap in each direction, then took a dip in the lake to cool off. Such a beautiful and peaceful spot.
Thanks MTB LoCo for all the hard work on the trails!

- Trails should not be used during wet weather, or when the trail is soft or muddy.
- Trails are open if the trail is firm and the surface will not be disturbed by foot or bike travel.
- PLEASE be patient if the trail isn't ready... allow the trail to dry before riding.
- Trails are typically too wet to ride for 18-24 hours after a significant rainfall.
- Riding wet trails damages the trail by creating ruts that increase erosion.

Definitely a BIG THANKS to the 4H Adventure Club!
We want to give a huge shout out and thank you to the Loudoun County 4H Adventure Club for their trail work day at the Freedom Center Mountain Bike Trail last Monday!!
These young adventurers cleaned and cleared the slopes trail, as well as filled the trailer below with old debris from the stream valley draining into the pond. MTB LoCo was also onsite and cleared growth around the bridge we installed over same creek two years ago.
Stay tuned for info on additional upcoming fall volunteer opportunities, and thanks again to the 4H Adventurers!
The Freedom Center Trails will be closed to the public Saturday August 17 for an event. The trails are being used by Go Time Racing for their annual HOTCYCLE race.
Additionally, the race course has been taped. If you are riding this week, please do not alter the course taping. Its a great route through the trail system in the opposite direction of what most users regularly ride.
Thanks and have fun out there!
April 28 Bridge Project
Wow – There was a whole lot of trail work going on today, even in the rain!
We would like to thank the 4H Outdoor Adventure Club for their work party this afternoon. Members of the 4H Club came out in force today to walk and help clear the trails of any refuse, pull deadfall off the trail, and generally help maintain this gem we have. Hopefully a few of them will be able to make it out for next weekend’s Fiesta LoCo event!
Brian H, MTB LoCo BOD “Trail Boss” and Rob H, MTB LoCo BOD “At-Large”, were also out working on the water crossing at the northwest portion of the system. These last few deluges have done a number! After reviewing the damage, we decided to bridge the creek, the in order to make this work, and not get washed down stream, we had to clear deadfall and snags about 20 feet on both sides, but also use rocks to reinforce the banks.
Bridge is done, but not in final position yet. And don't except a masterpiece, it was built with a chainsaw and screwgun.
Rob here, I was able to get a lap in just before the big drops started coming down, and the trail is in pretty good shape. There are a few things we are going to be cleaning up, mostly deadfall limbs. We will also be working on the 2 remaining wet stream crossings, and have a permanent solution planned, but we will fix up a temporary fix for FIESTA LoCo.
We have tons of great stuff we are raffling off, including several items worth several hundred dollars. We will also be working on a few "Members only " rides at some local private trails. (Jacket optional).
If its not already on your Calendar, pencil it in. Be there or be square.
see ya on the 4th!
