Okolona Fire Combat Challenge Team

Everybody come out and see the Okolona Combat Team compete this Saturday in the Scott Firefighter Challenge in hometown Louisville, Ky. The event is being held at 2nd and Liberty Street and competition will begin around 1600. Hope to see you guys there!

The Okolona Combat Team qualified for the 2015 World Challenge in Montgomery, AL on Sunday. This is the team's 2nd year running and 2nd year qualifying. Congratulations guys!

The team will be competing this Sunday at the Lexington Challenge Event taking place at the Hilton Suites.

Also, we would like to welcome our newest member Matt Newman who will be performing the rescue drag event. Scott Underwood will be stepping up and performing both the hose hoist and the Keiser Sled.

Lastly, we still have some fundraising shirts in stock ($12) if anybody is interested. Simply contact any team member and we will get you in one.

Thanks for everybody's support over the past few months. Sadly, the team has not raised the necessary funding to attend the World Finals this year. We are not letting it get us down, and will continue to raise/save funds so we are are able compete and attend next year.

With that being said, Custom T's has printed us t-shirts and we are hoping they will be a good fundraising idea. I have attached a picture of the shirt for everyone to view. The shirts are $12.00 a piece and we should have everybody's size. There will be a sign up sheet at all Okolona firehouses in the coming days. Or feel free to contact any of the team members to place an order.

Four members of the Combat Challenge Team recently competed in the annual Heuser Health Challenge. The team had a solid performance in the team event and finished in third place. The following members also earned first place in individual events:

Kyle Anderson - Iron Cross Champion
Erik Sturgeon - Car Push Champion
Tommy Ogle - Bench Press Champion (Male)
Kayla Vickers - Bench Press Champion (Female)

The team recently competed in their first competition in Lexington, KY. The team trained hard for the event and met their goal of qualifying for the World Finals in Phoenix, AZ. The team will be conducting fundraising from now until November (2014) to try and raise the funds necessary to compete.
