A flower float that is a social experiment ! The designers say there is deliberately nothing being decided. Yellow WELLES and red NIETES are two opposing camps, essentially “IS TOO!” versus “IS NOT!”, and the experiment is whether they can get people to pick a side and argue without there even being an underlying question. They explicitly say the emptier the words are, the better, because the subject of the disagreement is intentionally absent.

The idea for this flower float is essentially: everything living eventually disappears, and nature takes it back. Much like the concept in painting, something I like to explore in my own work, everything is fleeting. This float is titled Eindtijd, which literally means something like “end time” / “the end of an era.” Nature will outlast us all.
This flower float is a slapstick comedy version of a moving day from hell. The man in the red bikini does it for me 👙
This MONSTER of a float made entirely of fresh flowers is full of detail and texture.
Sound is the compelling part of this flower float for me. Some floats are more performance based art than simply a beautiful object. The concept is essentially an army coming to destroy Zundert. The designers described what they wanted as heroic, intimidating, barbaric, but above all ruthless. The entire presentation stretches about 50 meters and includes a battering ram, siege tower and catapult, with 105 costumed performers acting as the attacking army. This is the masculine energy float for sure 😂💪
An extended video of the entire parade of performers for this flower float It’s called “Sandraudiga – Rooted in Zundert.” Sandraudiga is an ancient nature figure connected to this area, representing the bond between people, the land and everything living in it. Her name was actually found on an altar stone nearby, and the float is basically Zundert imagining her rising out of its own roots, animals and earth.
An Aladdin esque float at the flower parade . Sellers seem to be toting their wares through the flower bazaar. Every fresh dahlia is placed on the floats by hand.
