Claire Evans, ‘a real powerhouse’ for Libertyville, is the 2025 News-Sun Girls Volleyball Player of the Year The 6-foot-1 Claire Evans led Libertyville to conference and sectional titles.

Congrats to Charlie on her selection to the All State Third Team. A fantastic recognition following an amazing junior year with the Wildcats.

Charlie Fleegle, 5-6, Jr., L, Libertyville

Undisputedly one of the top liberos in Illinois and a two-time all-North Suburban Conference selection, Fleegle had 309 digs, 107 assists, 53 aces and posted a 2.24 in serve receive for the ISA Class 4A supersectional finalist Wildcats (32-8). "She was the rock to our defense," said Libertyville coach Greg Loika. "She is a fierce and feisty defender and lethal from the service line." Fleegle's 107 assists this fall were an all-time high for the libero position at Libertyville. "She did an excellent job building on the success of last year and running the offense when our setters defend the first ball," Loika said. A USAV All-American after leading to lead her Sky High Adidas 16 Elite team to a national championship in the
16 USA division last summer, Fleegle will continue her academic and athletic career at Illinois State University after she graduates from Libertyville in spring 2027.

Claire Evans, 6-0, Sr., OH, Libertyville

"Claire was phenomenal for us this year," said Libertyville coach Greg Loika. "She's a tremendous attacker, and scores from the front row and the back row as a six-rotation player." Evans produced 273 kills, 489 serve receptions, 121 digs and 18 blocks this season and was named Co-Player of the Year in the North Suburban Conference. "How Claire went, so went the Wildcats, and she had a wonderful senior campaign to follow up her breakout season in 2024," Loika said. Evans hit nearly .400 in the postseason to help propel Libertyville to a Class 4A supersectional and graduates as a two-time all-conference selection.

Elle Knight, 6-0, Jr., RS, Libertyville

Knight helped lead Libertyville to a North Suburban Conference championship and a Class 4A supersectional appearance with 208 kills (hitting at a .223 clip), 52 blocks, 71 digs, 23 assists and 23 aces. "Elle was just an all-around huge piece to our team," said Libertyville coach Greg Loika. "We've never had two 200-kill attackers at the same time, and when she and Claire (Evans) were both going off, we were tough to defend." Knight was named to the all-North Suburban Conference team for the second year in a row. "She hits with power and control and also was second on the team in blocks," Loika said. "She will have a tremendous senior year as well."
