George has returned to the porch tonight.

But apparently he didn’t come alone.

Within about 2 feet of each other we have:
🐸 George
🦗 One enormous, ridiculously bright green grasshopper
🪲 A praying mantis

I’m not saying they’re holding a meeting… but I’m also not saying they aren’t.

I have no idea what the agenda is, but judging by the lineup, I suspect it involves bugs and questionable decisions.

🧡 A HUGE thank you to whoever purchased all of these goodies from our Amazon wishlist!

We received an entire set of orange grooming supplies, a bucket, halter, and lead rope! These are going to be perfect for our new guy, Simon, and I already know he is going to look absolutely adorable in orange. 🧡

Thank you so much for thinking of us and helping us get Simon settled in! We truly appreciate your generosity! 🧡

Little Farmers Club — Homeschool Interest
I’ve had several families ask about offering a small homeschool farm group for younger children, so I’m looking into putting together a Little Farmers Club at Mounted Maestros in Lillington!

This would be a 10-week program for ages 4–6, meeting once a week for 1½ hours, with a parent participating alongside their child.

The idea is to give little ones a chance to get outside, explore the farm, learn through hands-on activities, make things, play games, and experience a little bit of farm life.

We could explore things like gardening, nature, farm projects, simple farm skills, games and activities, and learning about the animals while safely incorporating the horses and other farm life.

This is an interest check, not a finalized program yet! I’d love to hear from homeschool parents about what your little ones would enjoy most. If there are particular activities, topics, or experiences you think would be a great fit for ages 4–6, please share your ideas!

If you have a child ages 4–6 who you think would enjoy Little Farmers Club, comment “Little Farmers” or send me a message so I can get an idea of interest.

I’m excited to see what we can come up with!

Not every lesson happens in the saddle. One of our students recently asked to learn more about groundwork and lunging, so that’s exactly what we worked on!

Lunging is a great way to learn how to communicate with a horse through body language, positioning, voice cues, and pressure and release. It also gives students another way to build confidence and develop their overall horsemanship.

We love when students want to expand their skills beyond riding and learn more about the horse itself.

A big thank you to whoever sent Chief a replacement halter from our Amazon list!

Chief’s halter needed to be replaced after the clip broke, and we are so grateful to whoever sent him a new one. We truly appreciate you thinking of Chief and helping keep our horses well taken care of!

Thank you so much for supporting our horses and Mounted Maestros. It means more than you know!

A few riding lesson spots are opening up!

Our small farm in Lillington offers a more personal approach to English riding lessons, with an emphasis on education, confidence, and individual growth. Lessons go beyond just riding — students learn about horses, horsemanship, safety, and how to become a more confident and capable rider.

Great for homeschoolers, kids, and adults!

Home to the Campbell University Equestrian Club, we work with a wide range of experience levels, from complete beginners to more advanced riders.

The goal is a safe, supportive, no-pressure environment where riders can learn at their own pace and enjoy being around horses without feeling like they have to compete or show. For those who do want to pursue that direction, competition and showing opportunities are also available.

New riders can start with a $60 introductory lesson, followed by monthly lesson packages or other lesson options based on individual goals and schedules.

A few weekday spots are currently available. Comment below for more information!
