Sometimes the bravest thing a widow does
is admit she doesn’t know what comes next.

Not knowing isn’t a failure.
It’s often the doorway.

If you don’t know what comes next, you’re in good company.
You don’t have to solve anything today.

Not knowing can be a resting place, too.

The week between Christmas and New Year’s can feel especially strange as a widow.

Everyone else is talking about fresh starts.

You’re just trying to get through the days without pretending or forcing cheer.

If that’s you, please hear this.
You don’t owe anyone a “new you” by January 1.

If the noise of “new year, new goals” feels like too much,
give yourself permission to opt out.

You’re allowed to let January arrive without a plan.

There’s a quiet kind of stuck that doesn’t look dramatic.

You’re not falling apart.
You’re not in crisis.
You’re just… paused.

Standing between what was
and what might be.

That place matters more than we tend to believe.

If you find yourself in that paused place, see if you can stop fighting it.

Pauses aren’t wasted time.
They’re often where something new quietly takes shape.
