🏆 Battle For The Bag Champions 🏆
What a weekend for these DAWGS!!
The girls finished 5-0, never trailing for a single inning all tournament. The bats were on fire from start to finish, helping us hit an incredible .709 as a team while scoring 90 runs in just 20 innings. But what made this weekend special wasn't just the offense. It was the way this group responded when things got tough.
Heading into the championship game against a very well coached Natives team, we told the girls that one of the hardest things in softball is beating a good team twice. They found out firsthand just how true that is. After swinging it well all weekend, the bats finally cooled off, but instead of folding, these girls dug in, played defense, made the routine plays, and found a way to win. Again learning that defense wins championships and they can do hard things!
Some standout performances:
🥎 Emmy was simply impossible to get out, going perfect at the plate all five games.
🥎 Kin was an absolute vacuum defensively, recording 19 total outs and making play after play.
🥎 AC turned a huge 6-3 double play, while Celeste and Bryn each added two double plays of their own.
🥎 The outfield continued to shine, coming up with big catches and big throws throughout the weekend, including the championship-winning play by P.
🥎 Vaeh launched another home run and drove in 9 RBIs, continuing to be a force in the middle of the lineup.
Most importantly, when we needed it most, every single DAWG did her job. Championship games aren't always won with big innings and highlight-reel homers. Sometimes they're won with toughness, focus, and trusting your teammates. That's exactly what this group did.
Couldn't be prouder of these girls and the way they competed all weekend.
Now it's back to work. We've got two weeks to prepare before heading north to face a stacked field featuring some of the best 8U softball teams in Texas. Looking forward to the challenge and another opportunity to prove who we are!
Attitude. Effort. Focus. HARD WORK!
