Did you know? 🤔

Extreme physical exertion, such as weightlifting, running barrels, extreme sports, etc, causes micro-tears in muscle tissue, leading to repair and growth. Muscle knots impede proper repair and blood flow, requiring specialized tools to break up these knots and initiate true recovery. That's where muscle scraping comes in.

Following up with cryotherapy not only accelerates blood flow and regeneration, it also provides real-time pain relief! It’s something you MUST experience to believe.

Why Muscle Scraping?
Fascial build-up and scar tissue can limit your horse’s performance and increase the risk of injury. Muscle scraping will gently break down restrictions, helping to improve flexibility, enhance mobility, and support your horse’s overall comfort and health.

❄️How cryotherapy Works❄️
Using precise, localized cold application to stimulate increased blood flow, flush out metabolic waste, and support the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles and tissues. This gentle and non-invasive method not only aids recovery but also has a calming effect, making it beneficial for both injury support and ongoing wellness.

With Cryotherapy and muscle scraping sessions, we can speed up the recovery and healing process from a multitude of injuries and soreness, such as:

Muscle soreness
Joint stiffness
Soft tissue injuries
Scar tissue buildup
Post-competition fatigue
Tendonitis
Ligament injuries
Swelling and inflammation
Bruising
Chronic pain

Standing a horse in a cold creek was an old horseman’s remedy. Times have changed since this early iteration of cryotherapy, as today we have advanced products to provide the same treatment in clinical and field settings through more controlled and effective processes. Researchers also are continually advancing our understanding of this practice, moving it far beyond an anecdotal remedy. Cryotherapy helps in so many ways!
- reduces inflammation
- Reduces risk of re-injuries
- Improved performance
- Increase mobility
- Promoting faster healing

The question I hear most often is what types of injuries can be treated with our services. Here is the short answer:

Our cryotherapy and muscle scraping services can help treat muscle soreness, joint stiffness, inflammation, soft tissue injuries, scar tissue, and post-event fatigue.

Whether your horse is recovering from an injury or preparing for a competition, our services help reduce the risk of long-term injury and keep your horse in top form. The best part is you see results after just one session. In many of the people and horses I've treated, they feel 70% better after their first session, and see significant results after just a few sessions.

Icing vs localized cryotherapy for horses 🧊

Extreme cold is an effective way to aid in the recovery of lower limb injuries in horses.
Here are some advantages of using localized cryotherapy over traditional icing boots.

-Faster & more effective – lower temperatures reached within a shorter time frame significantly reducing pain, inflammation & swelling.

-Deeper pe*******on - Cryotherapy treatments pe*****te tissues more effectively than traditional icing methods resulting in better outcomes.

-Reduced risk of damage – Cryotherapy maintains precise temperature control eliminating the risk of cold burns that can occur with improper use of icing boots.

Convenient & time-efficient – cryotherapy treatments last between 30-90 seconds to an area and can easily be applied on any area of the horse. 🐴

The legs of a horse have no muscles below the knees and hocks, resulting in limited blood flow to these areas. This can lead to slower healing times for injuries in the lower limbs, with a higher likelihood of scar tissue formation compared to injuries higher up the limb. The legs of horses are subjected to significant stress, making them prone to injury. A common misconception is that horses competing at lower levels don’t reap the benefits of cold therapy as much as upper-level performers do. But that’s not the case. All horses can benefit from the use of cryotherapy if they have inflammation in the limbs associated with knocks, minor sprains and after strenuous exercise
