A little drone footage of Emerald Bay today. Unfortunately, I had the wrong SD card so its a little choppy.

Went to Emerald Bay this week. F6 was a nice mooring for 4 nights. Breaking in my new 4 stroke Tohatsu 6 hp outboard. Seems very tricky to start. Requires a lighter pull then the 2 stroke. When it starts it's great. Thoughts or ideas on this would be greatly appreciate.

As we count down to the Virtual Conservancy Ball, join us today in our first ever Virtual Conservancy Ball Challenge! Please check out this peer-to-peer fundraising challenge, join or start a team with the potential to earn rewards, and support the Conservancy's critical work.

Over the past 24 years, the Conservancy Ball has helped to raise more than $7.6 million dollars, all of which directly supports the Conservancy’s conservation, education and recreation programs – including necessary modifications due to COVID-19. Like many other non-profit organizations, the effects of the pandemic have greatly impacted us. Supporting the Conservancy through this program helps us to keep Catalina Island accessible for boaters, hikers and nature lovers for generations to come.

Hi Corsairs. I'm very sad to send this message, but thought many of you would want to know of a tough situation concerning former Emerald Bay/Howlands Harbor Patrolman John Pytlak.
John is currently in a care facility in Vista California. He cannot receive visitors, but cards can be sent. He is in the Life Care Center of Vista, 304 N Melrose Drive, Vista, California 92083.
Upcoming Cruise: Ashbridge 2020
Due to the covid outbreak, big boat racing is not permitted due to distancing rules, therefor this year's race will take place as the Raingutter Regatta! Go to calzim.net/sailing/ashbridge2020.pdf to see the rules. Please send an email to me at calzim.com so that I can bring enough boat building supplies. Bring your own supplies to decorate your boat.
Hello Corsairs. My catamaran, Always, was hauled out last week for some repairs. If anyone has room and is comfortable with a passenger for the weekend or even just for the day (if you're only going for the work party), please let me know. 714-853-2309
Thank you.
Camp Emerald Bay won't be opening until at least July at this point. I know many of you care as much for the camp as the club. The scouts add a lot happiness and joy to Emerald as Scouts from all over experience our island paradise.
Hey all you wonderful corsairs, anyone have a good recommendation for repairing a Honda 40 outboard?
These are the baskets we put together for baby boy Greyson ( Mike And Allison's); and baby girl Dylan (Jay and Ashley) of Harbor/Mooring Dept at Two Harbors. They were both born last summer. Thank you all who donated.

The SoCal Marine Traffic map is bonkers. Green icons are container ships. Red are tankers. Purple are pleasure craft. I count close to 100 container ships. Going to the island will be interesting for the next few months...

Why a record number of container ships are backed up off the coast of California

Be careful on your way over to Emerlad Bay today. Some ships are drifting which may cause problems with navigation.

https://www.popsci.com/technology/record-breaking-container-ships-awaiting-entry/

Why a record number of container ships are backed up off the coast of California So many container ships are trying to make it to port, some of them are just drifting due to a dearth of anchorages. Here's why.

09/15/2021

There is a possibility of heavy fog Friday morning heading over for the 2021 Commodores Cruise. With so many ships in the drift area just off Catalina it could be a challenge to navigate.

Keep in mind that AIS transceivers are typically mounted on the bridge which could be up to 1,000 feet from the bow of a ship. Give yourself plenty of space!

New Fish Decorations:
Have you ever seen our Cove look like THIS? An incredible Under the Sea event with schools of Fish, a giant octopus, a few Sea Horses, lit Jelly Fish(!), a rear-lit backdrop with sealife silhouettes behind it!
Who was the creative genius behind it all?
Our New Fish Renee Raymond and her handsome hubby Dave! Yup, if you missed this event, bummer, but at least a lot of photos were taken that night.
Thank you Renee - you are an AMAZING talent! Thank you for sharing it with your new Corsair friends.

The Memorial Day Gilligan's Island Party was a great hit! Dawn did a fabulous job with the dinner. New Fish Renee Raymond created the coolest SS Minnow, which was clearly shipwrecked in our Cove. Mr & Mrs Thurston Howell III were in rare form, along with a host of Corsair Castaways.

Our modest outdoor facility, located in the beautiful cove of Emerald Bay (Catalina Island's West End), is the 2nd home to a small fleet of 75 Southern California boaters. The white sands, complex reefs and luscious kelp make a home for many underwater creatures, which is why Emerald Bay is considered one of the best dive spots in California. After a single visit, many boaters quickly come to see why Corsair Yacht Club is considered to be the "Best Little Yacht Club in the World!"
