..BLIZZARD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
between 18 and 25 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of central, northern, and northwest New Jersey.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of
blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and result in isolated
power outages.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per
hour. Locally higher snowfall amounts and significant drifting of
snow possible.

Today members of Lopatcong Fire Company 2 were out clearing hydrants of snow that had not been done. We would also like to say thanks to those that had.

The picture on the right is a fire hydrant that had been cleared already by a resident and we send our thanks to them!

☃️Winter Storm Awareness & Preparedness 🌨️

A significant winter storm is increasingly likely to impact our area late Saturday night through Monday, followed by a prolonged stretch of frigid temperatures lasting from Friday night into the middle of next week.

What to Know:
• Confidence is increasing for 12 inches or more of snow.
• Snow may begin late Saturday night and continue into Monday afternoon, with the heaviest snowfall on Sunday into Sunday night.
• Temperatures will remain well below freezing for several days, with sub-zero wind chills possible overnight.

What You Should Do Now:
• Plan for travel disruptions and consider limiting non-essential travel Sunday into Monday.
• Prepare your home for extended cold, including checking heat sources and protecting pipes.
• Make sure vehicles are winter-ready and emergency supplies are on hand.
• Check on neighbors who may need extra help during cold weather.

Congratulations to the newest Lopatcong Twp police officers graduating from the police academy! Stay safe and look forward to seeing you all on patrol!

Today, Lopatcong Twp PD’s newest hires graduated from the Morris County Police Academy! Ptl. Derek Rottmann, Ptl. Jonathan Hikade and Ptl. Abraham Rush have completed their 22 week long training, pushing themselves to be better academically, physically, and mentally.

Starting tomorrow, all three officers will prepare for field training to learn the many aspects of the law enforcement career, as well as learn the town. If you see them around, be sure to say welcome!

Helene Maguire, 72, passed away on May 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She departed peacefully at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg surrounded by her loving family.
